Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny has once again overridden local voices, clearing the way for high-rise development across 95 per cent of the seven-hectare Box Hill Brickworks site.

Buildings of up to 10 storeys can line the edges, with even taller towers possible in the centre, while just five per cent is reserved as open space. This is not an isolated industrial wasteland. It sits in the middle of established housing, where residents already need more breathing room, trees and usable parkland - not a wall of apartments.

Whitehorse Council, residents and local MPs opposed the plan, yet the Minister has pushed ahead and retained herself as the decision-maker for approvals.

Once this parcel is covered in concrete, it is gone forever. Kilkenny has chosen density over liveability, bureaucracy over community, and development targets over common sense.

Box Hill deserved a neighbourhood park - not a ministerial steamroller and a skyline of towers.

I would love to congratulate Scott and Leanne, On there wonderful wedding day. 29th October 2025. I had the privilege of being there chauffeur and truly enjoyed every moment. I am always learning how so many couples define true love and find a unique way of celebrating there declaration of true love. This was definitely up there. There ceremony nestled in a beautiful rose garden at the Wilson Botanical Gardens Berwick. With there permission I have added some photos. Best wishes to you both your chauffeur always Vince.
