At Budj Bim, learning extends beyond the classroom.

Budj Bim is the home of the Gunditjmara people and a UNESCO World Heritage site recognised for its outstanding cultural significance. Here, students can explore ancient aquaculture systems dating back more than 6,600 years and gain insight into one of the world's oldest living cultures.

For thousands of years, the Gunditjmara people developed an extensive network of channels, weirs and ponds designed to harvest and manage Kooyang (eel).

Guided by Gunditjmara people, students are encouraged to explore, observe and question through immersive experiences on Country. Through direct engagement with place, students encounter history, culture, wildlife and environmental knowledge in a way that is both practical and memorable.

Time spent on Country can inspire curiosity, reflection and a deeper appreciation of the world around us.
