Thinking about German Christmas Markets and having instantly the classic images in mind:

💭 Wooden market stalls glowing with Christmas lights.
💭 Roasted almonds and freshly baked Lebkuchen.
💭 Festive Christmas decorations.
💭 Snow covered streets and roofs.
💭 Steaming mugs of Glühwein.

All magical. All part of the German Christmas Market experience.
But the Glühwein is not just a warm drink you pick up at a Christmas Market.

As Germans who grew up with this winter tradition, we know Glühwein is more than something to drink.

What if one train journey could take you from snow-covered peaks to palm trees?

The legendary Bernina Express is one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world, crossing the UNESCO-listed Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes.

💭 Imagine that feeling as the train begins its climb from the frozen Alpine valleys, winding higher and higher through a landscape blanketed in snow.

Last night, we had our final pre-departure call with an Australian couple about to embark on their long planned European adventure next week.

✅ At TStravelselection, it is tradition to check in with our travellers before they leave, as it is a chance to answer last-minute questions and make sure they feel completely prepared before heading off.

We remember our very first conversation with them from months ago.

"We are so excited. Our dream of travelling to Europe is finally coming true."

They shared a detail that makes this journey even more special.

"This will actually be our very first international flight. We have never travelled overseas before."

We remember ourselves the very first long-haul flight between Australia and Europe.

Yes(!) that is a very long way. It is completely normal to have questions like:

The more we travel, the less we are drawn to places simply because they are on everyone's bucket list.

That might sound surprising coming from someone who designs journeys through Central Europe.

Of course, we love iconic landmarks, breathtaking landscapes and places that belong on every traveller's bucket list. Still, the memories that stay with us are often created somewhere else.

The Moselle Valley is one of those places.

✨ In a quiet wine village. Around a family table. Waking up surrounded by vines that have been cared for by generations. At a small Weingut in the Moselle Valley. Meeting the family behind the vineyard. Tasting Rieslings that are rarely exported. During a conversation with someone whose story you'll never forget.

Often called “the slowest express train in the world”, it links Zermatt and St. Moritz over roughly 8 hours of pure alpine scenery.

What does summer look like in Germany right now?

Today we are happy to share this personal video with you, filmed just recently by our family who visited Mainau Island - a true blooming masterpiece on Lake Constance in southern Germany.

It is summer over there at the moment, while we are walking through the gates, everything turns into colour and nature feels like it is opening its arms - almost like a natural paradise revealing itself:
