Bio Concepts

Bio Concepts At Bio Concepts, quality independent and cutting-edge education has underpinned every facet of the business since its’ inception over 40 years ago.

Our mission to reduce the burden of chronic disease and create a healthier future. Bio Concepts was founded in 1984 by Nutritional Biochemist and author Henry Osiecki. Henry has published a number of text books on nutrition including The Nutrient Bible and his more recent text book, Cancer: The Importance of Clinical Nutrition. He also spent time as a research scientist and published a number of s

cientific papers in peer reviewed journals. Henry has been an integral part of the development and success of this company, helping Bio Concepts to be the first to bring a number of key nutrients into the Australian market such as CoQ10, Lipoic Acid and Acetyl-L- Carnitine. He was also the first to introduce glucosamine into Australia and promote this as the anti-arthritic formulae in the early 1990’s. He has played a pivotal role in changing the pharmaceutical model of formulations into a nutritional model and is the founder of the concept of synergistic formulations in an era where only orthomolecular high dose nutrients were available. Bio Concepts provide interactive learning to naturopaths, clinical nutritionists and mental health clinicians, as well as providing synergistic nutritional formulations for patient care. Through our educational Seminars, Workshops and Symposiums, along with our web-based educational activities and online resources, Bio Concepts’ education simplifies complex concepts to enhance clinicians understanding on a range of conditions. Bio Concepts practitioner members also have access to online resources at www.bioconcepts.com.au with a focus on the essentials of nutritional biochemistry in areas such as Mental Health, Cancer Prevention and Support, Inflammatory Disease and Epigenetics. 🛌 Why Do You Still Feel Tired After Sleeping?

If you’re waking up feeling unrested, you’re not alone—and it’s not just about how long you sleep, but how well you sleep.

Many factors can disrupt your sleep before you even lie down—such as age, stress, pain, screen exposure, and environmental conditions like room temperature. Internally, imbalances in your stress response system (HPA axis), GABA signalling, or excitatory neurotransmitters can keep your brain in a state of hyperarousal, making it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep.

⏱️ Sleep Attributes That Matter
Sleep efficiency
Sleep latency (how long it takes to fall asleep)
Wake after sleep onset (WASO)
Circadian rhythm alignment

⚠️ The Consequences
Poor sleep doesn’t just make you tired—it can lead to fatigue, irritability, poor concentration, increased cravings, and even strained relationships.

✨ The Good News?
Understanding these factors is the first step to change. Pair this insight with healthy habits like:

✅ Managing stress
🥗 Eating well
🚫 Avoiding alcohol & smoking
🧘 Supporting mental health
🛏️ Practicing good sleep hygiene
🏃‍♀️ Exercising regularly
👩‍⚕️ Consulting a health professional

Do you know hormone levels shift dramatically during the menopausal transition—progesterone and oestrogen drop between ages 35–50. This hormonal imbalance can trigger a range of symptoms, but it also opens a window for proactive health transformation.

✨ Building healthy daily habits can help in the shift and make a powerful difference:

✅ Soothe Stress – Mindfulness, yoga, and breathwork help regulate cortisol
🥗 Eat a Healthy Diet – Whole foods nourish your body and support hormone metabolism
🚭 Skip Smoking – Reduces symptom severity and supports cardiovascular health
😴 Practice Good Sleep Hygiene – Consistent sleep improves mood and energy

3) Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) – Known for its hepatoprotective effects and reducing hot flush frequency and severity.

4) Sage (Salvia officinalis) - Traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to relieve spontaneous and excessive sweating.
