Final coaching/playing day of the Wanderers trip with game 7 resulting in a solid loss at the hands of the Wide Bay lads.

Down to the bare bones of our playing squad so we got the ring-ins on board and carried on.

We welcomed Boaly’s brother Damian & Charlie’s Dad Linden back into Wanderers colours and brought in young Maryborough fast bowler Robert Murree, nephew of past tourist Craig Murree to complete our eleven.

Starting with Australian Cricketers' Association representatives Brendan Nash, Carl Rackemann & Geoff Dymock, joining forces with Upskill Cricket coaches & Wanderers QLD Club Inc players we coached another group of local boys & girls from 9.00.

Was another excellent day for cricket in the Wide Bay region and so many thanks must go to Pira Nirmalendran from Queensland Cricket - what a superb worker he is for the game - for getting his team together.

Also to Greg Hoffman (Senior President), Paul Sanders ( Juniors ), Razzy the very excellent groundsman ( such a fine facility ! ) and Marion - club manager and allround cricket organiser - we can’t thank you all enough.

Finally to Carl & Nashy - after 2 big days of coaching the kids, being willing to speak for 90 minutes at our after-match dinner we really appreciate your efforts fellas.

Ken Hinkley - Stand tall after a fine coaching career , well done.
Travis Boak - same as a footballer.
Gutsy effort by Port Adelaide to win tonight.

Thanks to the Australian Cricketers' Association for sending Carl Rackemann & Brendan Nash along for the final leg of our Wanderers tour in Maryborough.

Nashy & Mocca were excellent in presenting a fast bowling & batting skills session this afternoon and evening at the MCA nets at Newtown Oval.

Tomorrow morning from 9.00 they will go again along with our Wanderers cricketers and Upskill Cricket coaches tutoring more young Wide Bay cricketers.

We then play our 7th fixture of the trip culminating with a bbq and Q & A evening with the boys plus former Maryborough native and Aussie Test cricketer Geoff Dymock.

Game 6 of Wanderers tour yesterday in Clermont was another close one. We just got pipped at the post with local batting stalwarts Hicks and Williams getting it done with a fine partnership.

A group of really keen and coachable kids attended our early coaching session with UPSKILL CRICKET’S Lance Roudenko fresh off the plane from India running the clinic.

Longtime Wanderers and Clermont player Matt Hicks went well above the call of duty to host our tourists by providing all that we could possibly need during our stay.

Thanks to groundsman Woodduck for providing an excellent wicket and outfield, to Chris for doing the catering and to Griff for getting together the local XI.

Was good to mix a few local juniors into both sides on the day.

Fourth game in a row on the Wanderers tour as we played game 5 today in Home Hill on the Barry Richards Oval in the middle of Home Hill racetrack.

A really good country facility which also features Home Hill Tennis Association, the breeding ground of current Aussie tour player Adam Walton who recently competed at Wimbledon.

We kicked off with a small net skills session with some very keen local primary school children.

The game was another excellent contest which featured our first centurion in Sandgate-Redcliffe’s paceman Jacob Turner.

We were so very well looked after by Dan Olditch and his top team of local helpers.

Our playing stocks were bolstered by the inclusion of Bowen father-and-son pairing Mark & Murphy Aitken who we recruited from yesterdays game and today saw the arrival of Lance Roudenko back from a stint coaching in Assam, India.

Great to finally get Warren “Wozza” finally off the bus and into the action as a supporter !

Game 4 of the Wanderers tour today at Bowen where we had 7 very keen kids at our pre-game clinic followed by a 35 over fixture against the Bowen Barracudas on the excellent Gabba hybrid wicket where we emerged victorious.

Huge thanks to Lee Watts and Stacey Patterson from Bowen Cricket who, between them made sure that the game went ahead and arranged a superb day for all involved - culminating with too many pizzas at the end of the game !😊

We took the opportunity to present Wattsy with his awarded Life Membership badge from a couple of years back.

On a hugely sad note Lee’s Mum Joanne passed away this morning just prior to play commencing.

As Joanne would have wanted, Lee returned to bat at the end of Bowen’s innings and to receive his honour from the Wanderers Club.

RIP Joanne Watts - a lovely lady and big cricket supporter. She will be missed.

Game 3 today of the Wanderers trip at the Proserpine Cricket Grounds.

We had a good turnout for our pre-game kids coaching session and we lost a nailbiter of a game when the Pitbulls got our 225 in the second last over.

Thanks to Mike Hope and all at Prossy Cricket for hosting us. We had a top day !

Game 2 of the Wanderers tour yesterday was played against a Mackay XII at Harrup Park 4.

Wanderers were in the hunt with half the Mackay side out but a good partnership saw the locals home after which we continued until all were dismissed.

A superb facility is Harrup Park.
Thanks to Mel Dwyer and her team for hosting us.

First game of 2025 Wanderers country tour began with a close fought win against Capricorn Coast @ Yeppoon Showgrounds.

A great venue and many thanks to Joel Parfitt and his clubmembers for hosting us again.

The wicket and ground were in superb condition.

Good to have ex- Aussie Test fast bowler Geoff Dymock on board yet again to help with our coaching sessions.
