A juvenile Ringed Brown Snake (Pseudonaja modesta) photographed in the Simpson Desert this week.
We’ve seen quite a few snakes in the last month, though we would expect that the cooler temperatures will dampen their activity.

“Greetings All – if ever there was a time to visit the Simpson Desert it is this year!
Andrew Harpers camel expeditions are extraordinary – absolutely the best way to see and learn.
His organisation, logistics and know-how from 30 years of such trips are unparalleled.
There are many more glowing adjectives I’d love to add – but I would run out of room.
Camels carry the gear and you walk.

If there is anyway you can get to Birdsville in time for one of these walks – I highly recommend it.
The Science Expeditions are a brilliant opportunity to participate in and learn more from experienced ecologists.
