Boggo Road Village Opens - Not the Gaol... Yet:
Boggo Road Village officially opens Wednesday 19th August!
Not the Gaol…but set alongside the iconic heritage prison, Boggo Road Village by Stockwell is home to dining and service-based retail, plus medical and allied health facilities.
It will be officially opened by Brisbane’s Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner. Mark Stockwell and special guests will be present to celebrate the Boggo Road Village opening.
Myself and our team – the award-winning, long-term operator of tours, experiences and events at the historic prison - will have a display representing Boggo Road Gaol. In 2022 we unfortunately needed to close down our operations while the Village was being constructed... but now it is finished!
Mark Stockwell deeply appreciates the history of Boggo Road Gaol and was committed to preserve the detention cell complex, tower and Halliday’s Leap as part of the development. We are delighted that it is finally opening.
State Government has always said that our tours could not resume until the development was finished, following remedial works in and around the Gaol (painting cellblocks and levelling the Gaol forecourt); so the time is drawing closer.
We will keep you all up to date but a reopening date for Boggo Road Gaol is now a priority.
