Today was a day of pure bliss, filled with rejuvenation and relaxation. We savored a leisurely breakfast, spent time soaking up the sun on the beach, and enjoyed a refreshing swim. I treated myself to a rejuvenating massage and later joined the others at the pool for cocktails before dinner. The beach scene was vibrant, with vendors enthusiastically selling everything from sweet treats to beach toys, echoing the laid-back charm of Bali. Adding gelato to their offerings would surely make their stand even more irresistible. Despite the water being a bit chilly, its crystal clarity and calmness were truly invigorating.

Cefalù is a coastal city in northern Sicily, Italy. It’s known for its Norman cathedral, a 12th-century fortress-like structure with elaborate Byzantine mosaics and soaring twin towers. Nearby, the Mandralisca Museum is home to archaeological exhibits and a picture gallery with a portrait by Antonello da Messina. The beaches of Mazzaforno and Settefrati lie to the west.

This morning we left Taormina early to head into Syracuse. We took a boat out at Ortigia Island to explore the coastline which was lovely. On the way back we were waylaid by the Guardia to check our skippers papers. Never mind the tourists on board lol. A couple of our group dove into the water for a refreshing swim. It was a bit cool for us. There are a couple of photos ducking as we went under a very low bridge. . Once we returned we headed onto the local markets which were amazing and where we had lunch.
After a look around this beautiful island we headed onto Agrigento where the Valley of Tombs are.

Taormina our first stop in Sicily. Taormina is a hilltop town on the east coast of Sicily. It sits near Mount Etna, an active volcano with trails leading to the summit. The town is known for the Teatro Antico di Taormina, an ancient Greco-Roman theater still used today. Near the theater, cliffs drop to the sea forming coves with sandy beaches. A narrow stretch of sand connects to Isola Bella, a tiny island and nature reserve.

It’s such a beautiful town with scenic views everywhere you look.

Alberobello is a town in Italy’s Apulia region. It’s known for its trulli, whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs. The hilltop Rione Monti district has hundreds of them. The 18th-century Trullo Sovrano is a 2-level trulli. Furniture and tools at the Museo del Territorio Casa Pezzolla re-create life in the trulli as it was centuries ago. Southwest of town is the Casa Rossa, a WWII internment camp.
