📸 Shot of the Day!

Moody skies, crashing waves, and one of Australia’s most iconic coastal views.

The mighty Twelve Apostles never look the same twice. On this day, dark clouds rolled in over the Southern Ocean, creating a dramatic backdrop to these limestone giants that have been shaped by wind and waves over millions of years.

It’s moments like this that remind you just how powerful nature can be.

Have you visited the Twelve Apostles? What was the weather like when you were there?

A huge wildcat wandered straight into our campsite last… and it was the biggest cat I’ve ever seen! 😳🐾

I’ve seen plenty of cats on the road over the years, but this one stopped me in my tracks. It emerged from the bush, took a look around camp, and disappeared back into the bush just as quietly as it arrived.

Now I’m not saying it was a leopard, panther, or anything exotic… but it was definitely bigger than your average house cat!

Have you ever seen a wildcat while camping or travelling around Australia? What do you reckon this one was?

The Twelve Apostles won’t be here forever… 🌊

These iconic limestone stacks off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road were formed over millions of years as powerful Southern Ocean waves slowly carved caves into the cliffs. Over time, those caves became arches, the arches collapsed, and the isolated rock stacks we see today were left standing.

But the process hasn’t stopped.

The same relentless erosion that created the Twelve Apostles continues to wear them away every day. In 2005, one of the most famous stacks collapsed into the sea, reminding us that this landscape is constantly changing.

It’s a powerful reminder that nature is always at work. Every visit to the Twelve Apostles is unique, because the coastline you see today won’t be exactly the same tomorrow.

The Twelve Apostles never fail to impress! 🌊🇦🇺

Standing proudly along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road near Port Campbell, these towering limestone stacks have been sculpted by the wild Southern Ocean over thousands of years.

Despite the name, there aren’t twelve stacks today. Ongoing coastal erosion has reduced the number, with only seven of the original sea stacks now remaining visible from the main viewing area. Nature created them, and nature continues to reshape them every year.

The Twelve Apostles attract more than 2 million visitors annually and remain one of Australia’s most iconic natural landmarks. Whether you visit at sunrise, sunset, or under stormy skies, it’s one of those places that truly lives up to the hype.

Have you been here before, or is it still on your bucket list? 👇

📍 PRINCETOWN, VICTORIA

Tucked away on the rugged Shipwreck Coast, Princetown is a small township with a big reputation. Sitting beside the Gellibrand River and just minutes from the world-famous Twelve Apostles, it’s one of the last places many travellers pass through before reaching some of Australia’s most iconic coastal scenery.

Despite its size, Princetown is a fantastic base for exploring the Great Ocean Road, with easy access to beaches, river views, walking trails, and incredible wildlife. Keep an eye out for kangaroos, native birds, and some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll find anywhere along the Victorian coastline.

Sometimes the smallest towns leave the biggest memories. 🌅🚗

A quick stop in Lavers Hill, the highest township on the Great Ocean Road! 🌿⛰️

With cool mountain air, towering forests and winding roads in every direction, this tiny Otway town is a favourite stop for travellers exploring Victoria’s spectacular southwest.

We also dropped into the legendary Yahtzee Café, a popular stop for locals, tourists, motorcyclists and road trippers chasing a good coffee and a bite to eat before continuing their Great Ocean Road adventure. ☕🥪

Small town. Big character. And some of the most beautiful scenery in Australia right on its doorstep.

Have you stopped in Lavers Hill or visited Yahtzee Café?

Welcome to Lavers Hill! 🌿⛰️

Perched high in the Otway Ranges, Lavers Hill is the highest township on the Great Ocean Road, sitting around 450 metres above sea level. With fewer than 100 permanent residents, it’s one of the smallest towns along this iconic route, but it’s surrounded by some of Victoria’s most spectacular rainforest and coastal scenery. (Wikipedia)

Located roughly halfway between Apollo Bay and Port Campbell, Lavers Hill is the gateway to some of the Otways’ best attractions, including rainforest walks, waterfalls, and the rugged coastline of Johanna and the Twelve Apostles region. (Visit Great Ocean Road)

A small town with a big reputation, Lavers Hill is where the Great Ocean Road reaches its highest point before winding back towards the Shipwreck Coast. 🚗🌿

Where the ocean meets the cliffs and time seems to stand still… 🌊☀️

Golden sands, towering coastal cliffs, rolling surf and a sunset that paints the entire beach in shades of gold. Moments like these are why we hit the road.

This incredible scene was captured at Johanna Beach on Victoria’s rugged southwest coast, where the power of the Southern Ocean has been shaping the landscape for thousands of years.

Sometimes the best plan is no plan at all. Just pull over, take it all in, and appreciate the view.

Now that’s a Shot of the Day! 🤩

Nature’s Sculptor at Work! 🌊🪨

Take a close look at this incredible rock formation at Johanna Beach. Over thousands of years, relentless waves, wind, salt spray and sand have slowly carved away the softer sections of the coastal limestone, creating these fascinating honeycomb-like patterns.

Known as tafoni weathering, these natural cavities form when salt crystals grow within the rock, gradually breaking it apart and leaving behind the intricate textures you can see today.

Standing beside it really puts the power of nature into perspective. Every hole, groove and curve tells a story written by the Southern Ocean over countless generations.

One of the many hidden details that makes Johanna Beach such a remarkable place to explore along Victoria’s rugged coastline.
