Join us at Broken Hill City Art Gallery for the launch of Barkindji Edible & Medicinal Plants: Community Field Guide, a community-led publication celebrating Barkindji knowledge, culture and the enduring relationship between people and Country.

Developed by Barkindji Elders, community members and collaborators, the field guide records and shares knowledge of native edible and medicinal plants, helping to preserve this important knowledge for future generations.

IMPORTANT UPDATE – Mutawintji Cultural Festival 2026.

It is with great disappointment that the Mutawintji Board of Management has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Mutawintji Cultural Festival, scheduled for 7–9 August.

Following record rainfall across the region and the ongoing impacts on road access to Mutawintji National Park, it has become clear that the festival cannot be delivered safely for visitors, performers, staff, volunteers and the local community.

All ticket holders will receive a FULL REFUND. Further information regarding the refund process will be provided directly to all ticket holders in the coming days.

The Mutawintji Cultural Festival is a unique opportunity to come together on Country to celebrate Aboriginal culture through dance, music, storytelling, art, cultural workshops and shared experiences. We know many people were looking forward to attending this year's festival, and we share the disappointment that it cannot proceed.

This decision has not been made lightly. The safety of everyone involved has remained the highest priority throughout the planning process, and current conditions have left us with no responsible alternative.

We sincerely thank our Elders, community members, performers, volunteers, partners, sponsors and everyone who had planned to attend for their ongoing support and understanding.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Mutawintji National Park in 2027 to once again celebrate culture, community and Country together.
