The Binba Mayi Experience is our local lifestyle coastal foraging experience — an immersive on-country adventure through Broome’s unique mudflats, mangroves and creek systems.

Binba refers to the intertidal coastal areas, and Mayi refers to a particular type of food.

This is a four-wheel-drive tag-along experience, which means guests join us in the comfort of their own 4WD vehicle as we travel out to selected coastal locations to explore, learn, forage and connect.

Join our Aboriginal guides for a half-day experience where you will walk through intertidal areas, learn about the coastal landscape and take part in traditional hunting and foraging practices.

🦀 THERE ARE PLENTY OF MUD CRABS OUT THERE!

If you can't find them, maybe you haven't worked hard enough, searched long enough, or gone deep enough into the creeks to find them!

If catching mud crabs was meant to be easy then everyone would be good at it!

Successful mud crab hunting can sometimes take years of experience, knowledge, patience and practice. You learn to read the country, understand the tides, recognise the signs and know where to look.

Those years of learning and hard work pay off! 💪🏽

Persistence is the key. Get out there, put in the effort and keep learning.

And instead of complaining or accusing others of catching all the crabs, maybe focus on improving your own skills!

Less complaining. More doing! 🦀

Better understanding starts with a willingness to learn.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve recorded 149 cultural awareness training attendances, along with 83 attendances at our optional on-country sessions.

2026 has been our first year delivering Mabu Buru Cultural Awareness Training as a formal programme, building on the training we began last year. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together.

To everyone who joined us, asked questions, listened and contributed to meaningful conversations, thank you. Making time to learn is a practical step towards better understanding, stronger relationships and reconciliation.

A special thank you to our ongoing partners and the businesses and organisations investing in this learning for their teams. Your support helps us continue sharing culture and creating space for conversations that matter.

We’ve learned plenty through this journey too. Every session has helped us grow more confident in how we deliver the training, and we’re proud to keep improving and making a difference through this work.
