Beautiful calm weather at this time of year on KI, but still quite warm. A good time to see wildlife too.

Our Story

I first visited Kangaroo Island with conservation volunteers and became enchanted with the unspoiled bush and wildlife. When friends let me know Island Chalet was for sale, I was thrilled - an interesting house, not too far from Kingscote, but still with a bushy feel and lots of birds. Since then, I’ve spent any hours watching blue wrens, red-browed finches, white eyes, currawongs and other native birds in the garden, and start each day with a walk along the beach with many moods. Some days it is still, reflecting the clouds like glass, when out of knowhere a wave appears - it rushes along the beach with a whoosh as far as they eye can see. I posted a video on this page of this strange phenomenon. A path in the other direction along the foreshore winds into Kingscote for breakfast if I’m feeling energetic! I am happy to share this personal retreat with others and love the thought of families enjoying its peace, while their curious kids discover new treasures! Stay a while if you can.
