Just a 5-minute walk from Kellys Beach Resort, this stretch of coastline is known for its laid-back vibe, golden hour views and the occasional wildlife encounter.⁠

There’s an English house in the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens… and the story behind it is even wilder 🏠️⬇️

Bert Hinkler was a Bundaberg local who completed the first-ever solo flight from England to Australia in 1928. When his English home (named Mon Repos, after a beach in Bundaberg) faced demolition in 1983, a group of locals refused to let it go. They dismantled it, shipped it across the world and rebuilt it right here in the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens.⁠

Every brick. Every fitting. Even the kitchen sink (retrieved from a well in the backyard).

Today, it stands overlooking the very field where Bert landed after that record-breaking flight.⁠
