Back out on the water with Jason on his boat chasing some more Barra action. It was a tough night overall with a few missed opportunities along the way, but Jason managed to put an cracking 112cm Barra in the boat to top off the session.

As always, plenty of laughs, banter, and good times on the water made for another great evening.

Paul and Mick joined me for a few big nights on the water at Lake Monduran and were rewarded for their efforts with some quality Barra along the way. Plenty of laughs, good times, and valuable learnings made for an awesome few sessions chasing these iconic fish. Great to see the hard work pay off with a couple of solid captures.

Matt joined me for a charter keen to learn more about Lake Monduran and sharpen his skills so he can return with the confidence to put it all into practice on his own. Having never landed a Barramundi before, it was a memorable evening on the water.

His efforts were well rewarded with two quality fish, including joining the coveted metre Barra club. A great session, plenty of knowledge gained, and an awesome way to kick off his Barra journey.

Paul joined me on the water to experience forward facing sonar firsthand while deciding whether to invest in a setup for his own boat. Wanting to see the reality beyond the highlight reels of YouTube, he got an honest look at how effective the technology can be when conditions are tough.

It wasn’t an easy evening, with the fish playing hard to get, but persistence paid off on sunset when Paul landed a quality 106cm barra for the session. A great evening on the water and plenty of valuable insight gained along the way

Tom and Rach made the trip over from Chinchilla for a well-earned getaway, settling into the holiday park before heading out for an evening barra charter with sunset beers included.

It didn’t take long for Tom to make it count, landing a new personal best and officially joining the metre-plus barra club. A cracking effort and a moment to remember.

Rach was happy to soak in the scenery and enjoy a more relaxed pace, but still stepped up onto the front deck to give it a go. While the fish didn’t play the game this time, she walked away with some valuable casting techniques to put into action on the next trip.

A great evening on the water with good company, solid fish, and a top atmosphere.

Mark and his son Tyler recently invested in a Garmin LiveScope setup and made the trip to Lake Monduran to get it dialled in with an afternoon tuning session before heading out on my boat for an early morning fish.

It didn’t take long for Tyler to make it count, landing his first ever barramundi, and what a way to do it with a cracking 107cm PB hitting the deck.

Mark also had his opportunities, but as any barra angler knows, when they eat boatside and power off in the opposite direction, the fight can be over in seconds. Unfortunately, this time the fish came out on top.

Despite that, it was all smiles and a great session on the water. Mark has already locked in a return trip… redemption is on the cards 🎣

Ian and his son Oli stopped in at Lake Monduran for an overnight session on their way back from the Top End to Brisbane. While both are no strangers to chasing barramundi, the focus for the evening was learning Garmin LiveScope Perspective mode and applying it to impoundment fishing.

With the goal of landing Oli his first metre-plus barra, the lads put in the effort and embraced the learning curve. Although that milestone fish eluded Oli this time, Ian made the most of the opportunity, landing a couple of quality barra to cap off a solid session on the water.

A fun night of learning, adapting, and making the most of their time at Mondy.

Steve and Alicia joined me for an evening session on Lake Monduran, making the most of the conditions and putting in the effort. Alicia was rewarded with a cracking barramundi measuring 108cm a fantastic fish and a great achievement.
