Club 4×4 aims to bring together people with a common interest in four wheel driving for:

- Four wheel drive touring and challenge activities,
- Social activities and events, and
- Sharing of information on vehicles, accessories, driving techniques, safety and care of the environment. The Club is lucky to be within a stones throw of many great 4WD destinations and offers experiences fo

r people of all ages and backgrounds, for all vehicle makes and for various levels of driving competency. Whether you are just a beginner or an experienced driver you will be made welcome. We want you and your family members to feel part of the club and to share in the fun. We aim to run club trips for everyone. Club 4X4 values inclusiveness and participation. Everyone shares the load – we want all our members to be actively involved. Our committee does the administration work, but the work to plan and run club trips is shared by all. We hope your association with the club is a great experience. Our measure of success is all members participating in the club and having fun together. The Club meets on the third Monday of each month in Bundoora; further information is provided in the ‘Meetings’ section of the website. We’re issuing an urgent warning to vehicle owners, as intelligence reveals tech savvy thieves are behind a surge in car thefts across the state.

Increasing numbers of cars are being stolen – more than 70% from residential streets, driveways, and other community locations – with no associated burglary, robbery or carjacking.

This trend has coincided with third party electronic devices, which are capable of programming or mimicking keys, becoming increasingly available for purchase. Once inside a vehicle, this device can be plugged into the cars on board diagnostic port to override the security system and start the engine.

Police intelligence suggests certain makes and models with electronic push start technology are being targeted, given no ignition key is required. We’re urging owners of these vehicles to look at a range of preventative measures to help deter thieves, including an on-board diagnostic port lock which prevents an offender connecting a reprogramming device to your vehicle. These locks are highly affordable and self-installable.

As always, police urge the community to take simple steps to stop opportunistic thieves in their tracks.

🚗 Park your vehicle off the street if possible.
🚗 Remove items such as keys and garage fobs.
🚗 Keep valuables out of sight or out of the vehicle entirely.
