🌊 🐬 🐳 World Ocean Day 🐳🐬 🌊

Today we acknowledge the deep connection our people have with Sea Country here at Jellurgal (Burleigh Headland).

First Nations communities have always known the importance of taking only what is needed, protecting breeding grounds, observing seasonal cycles and maintaining balance between people and nature.

Here at Jellurgal we continue these traditional practices to keep Sea Country healthy and also continue to pass down the cultural knowledge by educating people through Jellurgal's immersive tours and experiences.

We all have a responsibility to look after Sea Country, which is not only vital to First Nations culture and tourism, but also supports a thriving ocean that sustains us all.

🌱🌏️ 🌱 World Environment Day🌱 🌏️ 🌱

Meet Jaxon, Mibin, Heidi and Aliya (left to right), our Jellurgal First Nations Rangers that are always caring for Country! 🙌

Through the First Nations Rangers Program, funded by the NIAA, the Rangers are able to protect cultural heritage, continue traditional practices and strengthen community wellbeing.

Their work includes environmental monitoring, w**d and pest management, protecting native flora and fauna, community education and much more.

By working alongside Elders and Traditional Custodians, the program is grounded in traditional ecological knowledge and supported by contemporary environmental science approaches.

We acknowledge and recognise the important work our Rangers do for the environment, not just today but everyday 💚

National Reconciliation Week 2026

✊🏾ALL IN FOR RECONCILIATION✊🏾

This year’s theme is a call for all of us to walk together with honesty, respect, and action. Reconciliation is not the responsibility of one person or one community. It belongs to all of us.

Being “all in” means taking the time to listen deeply to First Nations voices, to learn the truths of our shared history, and to build genuine connections grounded in understanding and respect.

At Jellurgal, we see every cultural experience as an opportunity to create those connections. When visitors walk on Country, hear stories passed through generations, and engage with the living culture of the Yugambeh Language Region, spaces for learning and reconciliation begin to grow.

Reconciliation is strengthened through conversations, shared experiences, and the willingness to keep learning together.

Today on National Sorry Day, we pause to remember and reflect on the profound grief and trauma endured by the Stolen Generations. Standing here on Yugambeh language country, we pay our deepest respects to the traditional custodians of these lands including the 8 nations of the 7 rivers. We honor the survivors, acknowledge the painful history of forced removals, and commit to walking together with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community on a shared journey toward truth, healing, and reconciliation. 🌿🌊

Jingeri you mob 👋🏽 Team Jellurgal attended the TEQ Regional Tour Guide Workshop at today as a part of our investment into staff development, we learnt about what makes a good guide, how to give your guests an experience they won’t forget and how to build meaningful connections with your guests (I’m proud to say that all of our guides at Jellurgal already hit those marks with flying colours ✅). First Nations ranger lead Heidi was also a guest on the panel speaking about the tour guide profession which she nailed!. We learnt about industry trends and what to brace for moving into the next 18 months for Gold Coast tourism and we also made some good networking connections aswell! Exciting times ahead for the team at the dreaming mountain! ⛰️ 👣
