One of the things I love about the Northern Rivers is how the wildlife shifts as the sun goes down. By day we’re looking for koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and birds, then after dark a completely different cast of characters comes out to play.

A big day, plenty of wildlife and two great groups of nature lovers. 💚

Wildlife-a-rama! Here’s the photo dump from another cracking week out in nature.

🦆 21 August – Platypus Walk with Wendy
We had an absolute ripper of a morning, spotting four platypuses! Not bad for an animal that usually likes to make us work for it.

🐋 21 August – Cape Byron Walk with Tom
The ocean was putting on a show, with heaps of whales and dolphins cruising past the Cape. This really is one of the best times of year to be walking the Byron coastline.

🐨 22 August – Wildlife Safari with Wendy
And the koalas weren’t going to be left out. We found heaps of koalas, including joeys — always a favourite and ridiculously cute.

Platypuses, whales, dolphins, koalas and joeys… just another week exploring the wild side of Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers. 💚

This week was a little bittersweet, with Wednesday’s Wildlife Safari being Skye’s last tour with us. After a year and a half with Vision Walks, she’s heading back into the field to work as an ecologist.

We’re going to miss having her on the team, but we’re very pleased she’s getting back to doing what ecologists do best — poking around in the bush, looking at things most people walk straight past. 😂🌱

Thanks for everything, Skye, and good luck with the new job!

Another week of wildlife, waterfalls, rainforest, sunsets and a fair bit of wandering around after dark. Just how we like it. 💚

G’day nature lovers! 🦆💚

Here are a few photos from our Platypus Walk on Wednesday, 5 August.

It was another beautiful morning spent beside the creek, quietly watching and waiting for one of Australia’s most extraordinary animals to appear. Platypus don’t exactly take bookings, but that’s all part of the magic!

Our small-group Platypus Walk includes an expert ecologist guide, a peaceful picnic breakfast and a 90% sighting success rate. And with our Platypus Promise, if you don’t see one, you can come back again for free.
