A week in Tasmania was never going to be enough... but that's the beauty of it. ❤️

From wandering through historic towns frozen in time, to standing beneath the towering peaks of Cradle Mountain, exploring convict history, spotting incredible wildlife, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way, Tassie delivered far more than we expected.

This trip was about making memories across three generations, discovering hidden gems, and reminding ourselves that some of the best adventures happen when you take the scenic route.

We met capybaras and red pandas, rode the Cataract Gorge Chairlift, explored Port Arthur, sampled local produce, wandered Salamanca, and found ourselves constantly stopping to admire yet another breathtaking view.

The best part? Tasmania is only a short flight from Brisbane, which means this definitely won't be our last visit.

Until next time, Tassie. 🍃🏔️🦘

P.S. More Tassie posts to come

A river cruise isn’t just where you go—it’s how each day feels. Discover what makes AmaWaterways so personal, immersive, and deeply connected to every destination. Tap https://inspires.to/experiences/passion-led-river-born-what-makes-amawaterways-different-pjk8w8 to explore.

A river cruise is more than the places it visits. It’s how each day feels, how experiences unfold and how well every detail has been considered. From the warmth of our crew to the way we design our ships and curate time on shore, AmaWaterways is shaped around one simple idea: journeys should feel ...

They say a Darwin sunrise is unlike any other… but nothing quite prepares you for watching it unfold from the deck of Crystal Serenity. ✨

Soft hues of gold and coral stretch across the horizon as the ocean wakes up around you — calm, endless, and completely mesmerising. This is the kind of moment that makes you pause, breathe, and realise… this is why we travel.

Slow mornings, sea air, and nowhere else you need to be.

Just you, the sunrise, and a journey that feels as beautiful as the destination. 🌅

Welcome to cruising, the Crystal way. 💫

I think it’s official… I’ve been Crystallised. ✨🚢

A few days onboard Crystal Serenity and suddenly my standards for travel have changed forever…
• Morning coffee with endless ocean views ☕🌊
• Champagne appearing at just the right moment 🥂
• Dining that rivals some of the best restaurants on land 🍣
• Crew who somehow remember your name and your favourite drink

A couple of fun facts about this beauty:
✨ Crystal Serenity hosts only around 740 guests, so there’s space everywhere.
✨ She has one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios at sea, which explains the ridiculously good service.
✨ Home to Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa — the only Nobu restaurant on the ocean.

Somewhere between the incredible food, the ocean views, and the effortless luxury… you start to understand why people say once you cruise Crystal, you’re Crystallised.

And honestly… I get it now. 😉

POV:
You’re onboard Crystal Serenity, somewhere off Australia’s North-East coast, watching the ocean roll by.

These are the moments I love most about cruising — slowing down, watching the world pass by, and remembering why travel is so special.

More from this journey soon. 🌊

Cairns certainly knows how to roll out the welcome mat… 🎆

Before stepping onboard Crystal Serenity, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon and evening soaking up the atmosphere along the Cairns Esplanade — dinner, drinks, and a wander through the buzzing Night Markets. The perfect way to start the adventure.

And just when we thought the evening couldn’t get any better… Cairns put on an incredible fireworks show, which we watched from the best seat in the house — right from our hotel balcony. (We’re choosing to believe it was a special welcome just for us. 😉)

This morning we explored a couple of Cairns’ unique attractions before heading to the ship. First stop was the Cairns Aquarium, home to more than 16,000 marine animals and the only aquarium in the world dedicated solely to the ecosystems of Tropical North Queensland. Many of the species here live deep within the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea and are rarely seen by divers.

Next up was the wonderfully quirky Tomb of the Pharaohs, a walk-through Egyptian experience featuring over 200 artefacts and statues. Every single item is a handmade replica, crafted using traditional methods similar to those used in ancient Egypt — which somehow made me feel a lot better about taking plenty of photos without worrying about upsetting a few thousand-year-old spirits. 😉

And now… we’re officially onboard Crystal Serenity and ready to sail.

More to come from the journey north to Darwin.
