First stage of Wangetti Trail opens! The first stage of the extraordinary 94km trek through a World Heritage area and three national parks, Tropical North Queensland’s Wangetti Trail is now officially open to the public.

Expect three-hour one-way journey as you navigate 17 bridges and water crossings, winding through lush rainforest and coastal scenery. With breathtaking views from Double Island to Port Douglas, this section of the trail offers an unforgettable experience, made possible by the hard work of our community and Traditional Owners who’ve been hands-on in protecting this beautiful land.

Visitors can immerse themselves in nature with vibrant flora and fauna and enjoy spectacular views along the track. Currently you can hike or bike the 7.8km section from Palm Cove Jetty to Ellis Beach, with trail builders back to working on stage two soon which stretches a further 25km to Wangetti, crossing the Macalister Range National Park and Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, featuring a public camping site.
