Happy April Fool’s Day everyone! It’s been fun, but these goats will of course not replace our Esplanade maintenance crew. Did we fool you?

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄

Council has commenced a trial using a herd of goats to maintain the lawns in the Esplanade precinct.

It is hoped the grass-chomping animals will completely remove the need for petrol-based lawn maintenance equipment, offering a more sustainable alternative.

April Furst, the coordinator of the Animal Lawn Maintenance Crew, says goats aren’t just better at dealing with grass than traditional lawn mowers; they are the greatest of all time.

If successful, the trial will be extended to other green spaces throughout the city.

Residents are advised to keep their distance as the animals can be a bit temperamental.
