Another great day at the airport checking out the Beechcraft 1900C , a versatile aircraft that has played an important role in disaster relief and regional aviation.

Designed for both passenger and freight operations, the Beechcraft 1900C can operate from shorter and more challenging airstrips that are often inaccessible to larger aircraft. During this year's wet season, IAV worked closely with this aircraft to transport people between regional communities and deliver critical supplies to areas where they were needed most.

We also had the opportunity to view the Aerocommander 500, another aircraft with the ability to access regional airstrips and is well suited to charter operations across Cape York and remote Queensland.

Seeing these aircraft up close gave us a greater appreciation of their capabilities and a better understanding of the vital role they play in supporting regional communities.

Quick trip out of the office for a bit of plane spotting✈️

Couldn’t miss the chance to watch four US Marine Corp F-35B Lightening II fighter jets make a low pass over Cairns before touching down at the Airport yesterday afternoon. Definitely not something you see everyday!

Last week we had the opportunity to spend some time with local operators at the airport, getting a closer look at a variety of helicopters that we regularly use for charter.

Seeing these aircraft firsthand provides valuable insight into their size, seating configurations, cargo space, passenger access, and operational capabilities.

Continuous learning and expanding our knowledge of the aviation industry helps us provide the best possible support and charter solutions tailored to each client's individual needs.

The knowledge gained from visits like these is valuable across our entire network of air operators throughout Queensland. Whether we're arranging flights in the Torres Strait, Cape York, Central Queensland, or anywhere in between🚁

At IAV, we have the privilege of seeing firsthand the incredible work, coordination, and effort that goes into supporting communities during natural disasters, and we truly appreciate everything the SES does behind the scenes and on the front line.

Over the past few weeks, our IAV team has been working extremely hard to prepare for Cyclone Narelle in the Cape region and to support communities impacted in its aftermath.
We’ve been coordinating flights across the state and delivering essential supplies to remote areas. Frozen and dry foods, sanitary products, household items, equipment and other critical resources needed for cleanup and recovery.
Working alongside dedicated crews, it’s been a true community effort and we’re proud to play our part in supporting these ongoing disaster relief operations.
