We booked the VIP top deck and were very happy we did. Benny looked after us from start to finish. We had our first scuba dive, I was a bit nervous and freaked our at the start but Benny kept me calm. I am so happy we chose this tour because there are less people on the boat and all the staff are amazing. You can tell that they love their job. The VIP is only $100 more than the standard ticket and it is definitely worth it. You get your own private seating area in the top cabin in air conditioning and out of the sun. Benny made sure we had plenty of water and brought our breakfast and lunch to us. We also go a bottle of bubbles and a cheese platter on the way back.

Looking for a day trip which caters to all of your needs? Ideal for the most discerning of guests, the added indulgence of the Top Deck Club on Reef Experience guarantees you the fabulous reef trip of a lifetime. This trip is unique! The only day tour to offer an exclusive personalised service at the Great Barrier Reef, it is ideal for couples, celebrations and holidays with a difference.
Be greeted upon arrival at Reef Experience by a friendly crew member who’ll take care of your needs for the duration of the trip.
Avoid the crowd as you’re shown direct to your own exclusive seating area in the wheelhouse next to the Skippers area. Enjoy an a la carte breakfast prepared to your taste. Choose from fresh croissants and conserves, eggs and bacon cooked on the barbeque, fresh Australian fruit and French press tea, coffee and juices.
Relax on the journey out to the reef. Take in the view from the top deck, air-conditioned saloon area or lie on the large cushioned sun loungers as you cruise to some of the most pristine Outer Great Barrier Reef locations this world heritage listed Marine Park has to offer. Have the option to listen to our Marine Biology presentation as you journey up to 70 nautical miles off the East Coast of Australia, and learn interesting facts about the fish, coral and other marine life that you’ll encounter at the reef.
Upon arrival at your first Great Barrier Reef destination our crew will fit you with all the snorkelling and diving equipment that you require, making sure that you are comfortable and know how to use everything. You then have the option to snorkel, swim, scuba dive or do it all!
The great thing about being a Reef Experience Top Deck Club member is that you have your own crew member assigned to you to ensure that you see the best that each reef has to offer. On guided snorkel tours, your personal guide will show you the wonders beneath the surface pointing out what you see and explaining interesting things about each creature. Our crew members will share their passion making sure you are comfortable and have fun while showing you things you might not otherwise see – want to find a stingray camouflaged in the sand or a green turtle resting underneath a ledge of coral? Our experienced crew will be the first to spot them and show them to you!
Take a glass bottom boat tour and marvel at the wonders below form the comfort of our specially designed vessel. Great for taking photos and learning about the different kinds of coral while staying dry, this informative tour delights all who go on it. If you’re lucky you may even see dolphins jumping along in the glass bottom boat’s wake!
There’s no better place in the world to try a scuba dive. Whether you’re an experienced diver with a fair few dives under your belt or you’ve never tried it before, your personal crew member will be happy to es**rt you on a private guided dive, teaching you all you need to know to go for a safe and fun scuba experience. Scuba diving is easy, fun and exciting! See what the reef has to offer from beneath the waves and get up close and personal with the marine life while floating weightlessly through the water. Maybe you'll learn how to make colourful Christmas tree worms disappear, swim amongst schools of parrot fish, find a friendly sea turtle or even meet our resident napoleon maori wrasse Barney! The ocean is your oyster!
Feast on a Top Deck gourmet lunch freshly prepared for you by our onboard chef and served to your table before cruising to your afternoon reef destination. Again, choose to relax, snorkel or scuba dive the afternoon away!
Once finished your activities for the day, you will be served a glass of sparkling Australian wine and a complimentary cheese and fruit platter for your journey back to Cairns. Relax in the afternoon sun or check out your professional photographs as you cruise back to land.
