⭐Just Real Facts July⭐
If you head out to the activity platform with at Moore Reef you may be lucky to spot the resident Maori Wrasse called "Wally". This Wrasse has a large bump on his head to counterbalance his heavy jaw and big lips. Those big lips are there to protect him while he crushes hard-shelled prey like crabs, clams and sea urchins with his incredibly powerful jaws. Here's the interesting fact, Maori Wrasse have the ability to change s*x during their life meaning Wally may actually be a female! 🤯

⭐Just Real Facts July⭐
Did you know you can tell if a adult Green Sea Turtle is a male or female by looking at them? You didn't?! All you have to do is look for their tail. A Male turtle has a longer tail that sticks out past his shell. A Female turtle's tail is much shorter and harder to see. I wonder what this turtle in the image is? 🤔🐢

⭐Just Real Facts July⭐
Green Island is located off the shore from Cairns by a 45 minute boat ride on the Great Barrier Reef. Green Island my look like it was called "Green" because of it's lush tropical rainforest however, that isn't the case. In 1770, while charting the east coast of Australia, Lieutenant James Cook recorded seeing what he described as "a low green woody island." Modern historical research and Queensland Government records state that Cook named it after Charles Green, the expedition's astronomer, rather than simply because the island looked green.
