Seeking - Lighthouse Storyteller with Iron Calves
Location: Cape Bruny Lighthouse (Where the Southern Ocean meets your morning coffee).
The Schedule: ~ 6/7 hours a day, roughly 2 days a week (with a side of extra shifts later in the year).
The Payoff: Incredible sea views, fresh salt air, and a commute that doesn't involve a single traffic light. Award rates apply.
We’ve got a mystery on our hands. We live on one of the most beautiful islands on the planet, yet we’re struggling to find a local to work at its most iconic landmark. We have a core team, but we need you. Is it the ghost stories? The wind? Or are you all just too busy relaxing on Bruny Time? Whatever it is, we’re hiring, and we need a legend to step up (literally).
The Role in a Nutshell:
You’ll be the guide of the light, running tours every 30 minutes. You’ll be guiding guests to the top of the tower, sharing the history, pointing out the landmarks, and telling the Cape Bruny story.
The "Fine Print" (The Physical Stuff):
• Good Knees are Non-Negotiable: You’ll be hiking up the hill and spiralling up those lighthouse stairs multiple times a day. It’s better than a gym membership, but you’ve got to be fit enough to handle the burn.
• Weather-Proof: It’s wild down south. Through winter, you’ll need thermals and three pairs of socks. If you’re the type to melt in a bit of mist or wind, this isn't the office for you.
• Paperwork: You’ll need a Driver’s Licence, First Aid, and a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check.
Why You’ll Love It:
• The Commute: Leave your own car at Lunawanna. We’ve got a company ute parked at Lunawanna every night ready for you to drive to Cape Bruny. No gravel-road wear-and-tear for you!
• The Hours: We start at 10:00 am in winter (9:30 am in summer) and knock off by 3:30 pm (or 4:30 pm in summer). You’re home in time for a beer while the sun is still up.
• No Experience? No Worries: If you’ve got a pulse, a smile, people person, and the motivation, we’ll teach you the rest.
• The "Cape Bruny" Look: Forget about your bad hair days—your hair will always be bad at the Cape. The wind has been known to literally blow people's hair out. If you’re worried about your fringe, this isn't the office for you.
The Bottom Line:
This is a regular, reliable gig for someone who wants to work in a magnificent location without the 9-to-5 soul-crush.
Stop admiring the lighthouse from afar and come work in it!
