Today, February 1st, is remarkably cool. Remarkable after so many days of hovering around 50C. Barely a bird in sight. During the past days the birdlife seeking refuge has been phenomenal. I can add a few more species to the list below, but it is sad to reflect on how many native animals and birds have succumbed to the heat. On our homestead patch at least three mulga parrots did not make it to enjoy today's respite. Heaven knows what losses there will be away from the homestead.
