56 hours. One closure. Zero room for delay.

Recently completed, the London Circuit Pavement Rehabilitation project required a full pavement reconstruction within a tightly controlled 56-hour road closure, beginning at 9:00 pm Friday and reopening to traffic by 5:00 am Monday.

Working through day and night shifts, our crews pushed on despite wet weather, adapting to changing site conditions while maintaining quality, safety, and program. Every activity was carefully sequenced, as each stage relied on the successful completion of the one before it.

A great result by everyone involved in delivering another successful project for Canberra.

A Workplace with a Story to Tell

The Complex Co Head Office Refurbishment has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Master Builders and Asset Construction Hire Excellence Awards:

🏆 Best Use of Materials in a Commercial Project
🏆 Commercial or Retail Fitout, Refurbishment or Alteration ($1M–$2.5M)

This project transformed reclaimed materials from some of the region’s most significant infrastructure assets into a contemporary workplace. Historic steel from the Cotter Bridge, Tharwa Bridge and bridge components manufactured by Brunswick Bridge Works in the late 1800s have been carefully restored and integrated throughout the building, alongside recycled hardwood sourced from the former Eden Wharf.

The result is a workspace that preserves engineering heritage, showcases the value of material reuse and reflects the construction history that helped shape our business.

Some materials are manufactured. Others have been millions of years in the making.

One of the more unique aspects of the Ngamawari project has been working with the large granite boulders that have been carefully sourced from a quarry over 300 km away and transported to site to become a permanent feature of the landscape.

While they may look like simple rocks, every boulder has been carefully selected, measured, and positioned to suit the design. From quarry to transport and final placement, each one requires detailed planning, specialised plant, and precise installation.

The boulders do more than shape the landscape. They help tell the story of the place. Ngamawari, meaning "cave place" in the Ngunnawal language, recognises the caves that once existed along this section of the Molonglo River before they were inundated during the creation of Lake Burley Griffin.

Today, these natural stone elements create places for people to gather, explore, and connect with the landscape, while reflecting the vision for Ngamawari as a park that celebrates Country and the natural character of the river corridor.

It's a great example of how civil construction isn't just about building infrastructure—it's about working with the landscape, its history, and its cultural significance to create places that will be enjoyed for generations.

Sunrise to sunset at Gungahlin Tennis Centre: concrete going in for the Sports Pavilion foundation as earthworks continue across the subgrade for 5 of the 10 International Tennis Federation standard courts.

The day starts with the pump truck's boom extended against the morning sky, placing the first concrete for the Pavilion slab. From there it's earthworks the rest of the way: graders and rollers shaping and compacting the court subgrade across the site, water carts keeping the dust down as the ground takes form court by court.

All in a day's work as Gungahlin Tennis Centre comes together.

Long before this lift took place in Gungahlin, bridge construction and maintenance had become part of Complex's DNA. It's where we've built our reputation and where some of our most rewarding projects have been delivered.

These images capture the installation of a pre-fabricated modular bridge at the Gungahlin Tennis Facility—a milestone that took careful planning, precision lifting, and close coordination between our team and specialist partners.

While this project involves constructing a new bridge, it's backed by decades of experience delivering bridge infrastructure across the ACT. From new builds to maintenance, strengthening, and remediation, we understand what it takes to deliver these complex structures safely and efficiently.

Another exciting project is on the horizon.

Complex Co has been awarded the Coombs to Weston Link Path and Bridge project, delivering a new shared path connection across Weston Creek for the growing Molonglo community.

This bridge will create a safer and more accessible link for pedestrians and cyclists, improving connectivity between Coombs and the surrounding trail network while becoming a lasting piece of community infrastructure.

Projects like this are what drive our team—combining design, engineering, collaboration and construction expertise to deliver infrastructure that the community will use for decades to come.

We're pleased to be delivering this project for the Suburban Land Agency (SLA), represented by Capital 2 Coast, and look forward to working together as one team to deliver a great outcome for the community.

Bridges don't stay in service for decades by accident.

The ACT Bridge Maintenance Program was recognised at the recent CCF Earth Awards, winning the 🏆 Project Value up to $2 Million category.

Delivered across multiple locations throughout the ACT, the program involved specialised maintenance and remediation works designed to extend the life of key bridge assets and ensure they continue to serve the community safely and reliably.

Working within live traffic environments and over active waterways, the team carried out structural repairs, protective treatments, and targeted upgrades while minimising disruption to road users.

A great achievement for everyone involved in helping preserve these important pieces of infrastructure.
