A highlight of the visit of the delegation from Nuevo León, Mexico, was our visit to the Parliament of Victoria.
It was an honour to meet The Hon. Maree Edwards MP, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and greet The Hon. Jess Wilson MP, and The Hon. David Southwick MP. Our sincere thanks to The Hon. Telmo Languiller, former Speaker, for hosting us and helping organise this visit.
Our hosts shared insights into Victoria’s historic achievements, including in labour relations, as well as regarding its internationalisation strategy, with an active engagement with Latin America and the Caribbean.
This visit added a valuable institutional dimension to the delegation’s programme in Melbourne. We are grateful for the warm hospitality and look forward to continuing strengthening ties between Mexico and Victoria across political dialogue, trade and investment, culture, and cooperation.

Thank you to Professor Greg Bamber, Co Director from Monash University’s International Consortium for Research in Employment and Work (iCREW), and Professors Bernadine Van Gramberg, Jin Huang, and Julian Teicher, for meeting with the Delegation from Nuevo León, Mexico, which resulted in a rich session focused on the challenge posed by the advent of Artificial Intelligence to the labour market and the findings of their research in this area in Australia.
The discussion highlighted shared interests and provided an opportunity to compare the regulatory approaches governing the introduction of new vocational training programmes.
This dialogue between researchers and labour-sector representatives contribute to cointinuing building the knowledge and international connections needed to better understand the evolving world of work, showcasing cooperation between two G20 partners.

Thank you to the Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA) for meeting with the Labour Mission from Nuevo León, Mexico. We appreciate the opportunity to learn from an organisation working at the intersection of industry, vocational education and workforce development.
We are particularly grateful to Dr Gavin Lind for his time and willingness to exchange perspectives regarding identifying current and future needs in terms of skills and the workforce, acting as a source of information on labour-related issues affecting the mining and automotive sectors, as well as defining and promoting training programmes, developing training products and resources tailored to the sector’s needs, and providing advice on the policies of the Australian national vocational training system. We value this exchange which strengthens the links between two G20 partners regarding the changing needs of workers and employers.

Thank you to The University of Technology Sydney for welcoming the Delegation from Nuevo León, Mexico, for an exchange on labour regulation, labour migration and integration into the workforce. The session offered an opportunity to explore the relationship between legislative frameworks, workplace inspections, and compliance.
We are particularly grateful to Dr Frances Flanagan, Dr Michael Rawling, and Dr Eugene Schofield-Georgeson for sharing their expertise and engaging with the members of the delegation in an exchange about best practices. Interactions such as this enrich our understanding of shared labour challenges and create valuable connections between Mexico and Australia.

Thank you to the Newtown Enmore Business Community for welcoming the Delegation from Nuevo León, Mexico, where they had the opportunity to connect with local business representatives. This encounter provided an opportunity to learn from the experiences of an active neighborhood business community in Sydney.
We extend special thanks to Heleana Genaus who put together an impressive program, as well as Mr Nick Smith, owners of Rising Sun Workshop; Ms Amy Low, managing director of The Social Outfit; Ms Amelia Birch, founder of Famelia Wines; Mr Oscar McMahon, co-founder of Young Henrys Brewery; and Ms Blanca Mejía and Ms Blanca Perera, founders of Olotl. They discussed a range of topics, including hybrid business models, fair trade, diversity in supply chains, women producers, quality and commercial viability, sustainable innovation, and inclusive entrepreneurship. Their willingness to share local perspectives contributed to a broader understanding of the links between enterprise, employment and community life. We look forward to continuing strengthening our links with this vibrant community in Sydney!

Thank you to the Hon. Sophie Cotsis MP, New South Wales Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Work Health and Safety, for receiving the Mission headed by The Hon. Federico Rojas Veloquio, Minister of Labour from Nuevo León, Mexico, at Parliament House. The meeting provided a welcome opportunity for dialogue on labour relations and the importance of safe and fair workplaces.
We appreciate Minister Cotsis’s time and openness to this exchange, accompanied by Ambassador Ernesto Céspedes and Dr Alejandro Rivera of the Embassy of Mexico in Australia. Such encounters strengthen institutional ties and mutual understanding between Mexico and New South Wales.
