Markets, markets, markets!
Get ready for a standout June long weekend, with three local village markets popping up across three towns on three different days, perfect for a day trip (or three!).

Saturday, 6 June – The Moorbel Hall Markets kick off at 9am at 40 Auxiliary Street, Moorbel. Pick up home‑cooked cakes and slices, jams and pickles, along with a range of soaps and hand‑sewn items for the home. There’s also plenty of fresh food on offer, including sausage or rissole sandwiches and egg and bacon rolls. Moorbel is a small village just outside of Canowindra, making it the perfect excuse to visit and then head into Canowindra for a wander.

Sunday, 7 June – The Buckinbah Park Markets in Yeoval start from 9am at Buckinbah Park, Forbes Street. Browse fresh farm produce, homemade goods, crafts, potted plants, toys and books. Take the time to wander the streets of Yeoval, and with Cumnock just a short drive away, you can easily turn it into a full day out.

Monday, 8 June – Round out the weekend in Manildra, where the markets at Manildra Park, Loftus Street, begin at 10am. Enjoy browsing colourful stalls filled with handmade goods, local produce and tasty treats, along with coffee and hot food. Fun fact: Manildra is home to one of the largest flour mills in the Southern Hemisphere, supplying flour and grain products across Australia and beyond.

Support local and discover Cabonne this long weekend at your local markets!

DISCOVER CUDAL

Located in Cabonne Shire, Cudal is a peaceful historic village with strong ties to wheat and sheep farming, alongside a growing range of local industries. Once a key route for transporting gold, the village’s rich history is still visible today.

Take a walk along Boree Creek as it winds through town, and you might be lucky enough to spot a platypus.

Cudal’s character is reflected in its much-loved local businesses. Platypus Accommodation and Café, also home to the Platypus Pantry , offers a welcoming place to stay, combining comfortable accommodation with a relaxed country café experience, perfect for visitors looking to slow down and enjoy the region. For another great coffee stop, be sure to visit Beck’s Little Cafe, a favourite among locals and travellers alike. Browse craftsmanship at Newmarket Saddlery, and admire the heritage of the Corden Store, a former early 1900s general store that once supplied goods to the local farming community and now stands as a reminder of Cudal’s past. The building is also home to the Cabonne Food Wine and Cultural Centre, where visitors can explore handmade goodies and local produce, discover regional history, and experience exhibitions that celebrate the creativity and culture of Cabonne.

Today, Cudal remains a proud agricultural centre, known for fine wool production and home to one of Australia’s largest single vineyards, Monument Vineyard!

TOURISM INDUSTRY SURVEY | Have Your Say

Cabonne Council is seeking input from tourism and hospitality operators across the region to better understand current conditions, challenges, and opportunities for growth.

This survey will help inform how Council and its partners support the visitor economy, including destination marketing, events, business development, infrastructure priorities, and industry programs. Your feedback will be used to guide planning and investment so that support reflects the needs of local businesses.

The survey should take around 10–15 minutes to complete.

Your input is important in helping shape a stronger and more connected tourism industry across Cabonne and the broader region.

As with any great escape, we recommend avoiding peak travel periods, allowing a little extra time, and, if you can, adding an extra night to your stay. Because once you breathe in the fresh country air and experience the warmth and hospitality of regional NSW, you won’t want to leave.

Figuratively speaking, of course, the Central West is embracing the chill as winter approaches. There’s a crispness in the air, and while the temperatures have dropped, the last of those stunning autumn leaves are still clinging on, adding bursts of colour to the landscape.

Winter in the region offers plenty to explore, from inspiring art exhibitions and immersive truffle hunts to glowing fire festivals and, if you’re lucky, a light dusting of snow.

So head out west this season and discover something special.

BOOK REGIONAL

Based in Orange and servicing the Central West, Book Regional is helping put regional NSW on the map, one stay at a time. With properties across Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo, Millthorpe, Molong and surrounding areas, the business specialises in end-to-end accommodation management for holiday homes and Airbnb properties.

Founded by Peter Bromley, Book Regional was created to help property owners unlock the full potential of their homes while giving visitors memorable, locally connected experiences. From short and long-term accommodation management to guest services, property styling, marketing and bookings, the team handles every aspect of the hosting journey.

What sets Book Regional apart is its personalised service and deep local knowledge. The team is passionate about showcasing the lifestyle and charm of regional communities, ensuring guests not only have a comfortable place to stay, but also feel inspired to explore nearby cafes, wineries, shops and events.

The business plays an important role in supporting local tourism, encouraging visitors to stay longer and engage with the region, benefiting a wide network of local businesses.

Like many growing businesses, Book Regional has faced challenges, particularly in balancing rapid growth with maintaining high service standards. By investing in strong systems, clear communication and a reliable local support network, the team continues to deliver quality experiences while adapting to external factors affecting regional travel.

For Peter and the team, the most rewarding part of the journey is connecting people with incredible regional experiences, while helping property owners succeed and creating local employment opportunities.

Looking ahead, Book Regional aims to continue growing its footprint, supporting regional tourism, and showcasing the best of country NSW.
