A bit of a triumph

Another addition to my kooked out CV this evening when I take 77 Fubbites (residents of Forbes) on a ghost tour of their own cemetery. No doubt, I shall return to Gooloogong awash with ectoplasm and screams ringing in my ears

Off to Koorawatha today to tell the tale of the Battle of Bang Bang. How do I pronounce nominative determinism again?

On this show this evening helping unravel the scandals of Matt Moran's forebears. I'll post a link when there is one.

Well, it’s not quite the main stage at Port Fairy Folk Festival (my last festival appearance with the splendid Vandemonian Lags ensemble) but today I will deliver two Mark-Twain-style public lectures on the colourful history of the local district from the Bush Telegraph stage at the Forbes Heritage Festival. 11am and 12.50pm today in the glorious Autumn sunlight of Victoria Park. Come all of you Lachlan men, women and kids.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL TREASURE TROVE AT NEW JOINT-USE LIBRARY IN YOUNG ⚒

Over 20,000 artefacts have been found at the site of a library development in Young, shedding light on the region's colonial history.

Archaeologists are in the process of analysing the items found at library development at Young High School.

They've found significant items related to the Lambing Flat riots, as well as others from the region's Aboriginal and colonial history.

Principal archaeologist Dr Bec Parkes says the remains of buildings and items used by police in the 1860s may reveal more of the story of the Lambing Flat riots.

"So we have the story of the riots at a general scale, but we now might have the ability to fill in further detail about what was going on," she said.

Hilltops Council and the state government will be collaborating to erect a display of some of the items in the library, when its complete.

This is one of my favourite things and now has been digitised properly by the State Library. It's more of a mind map than a topographical map as far as I can figure as it doesn't marry up with the noted locations too well. So glad I (and you) can properly read the annotations: "Good man, Bad woman"!

Scale [ca. 1:100 000] (E 149°09'04"/S 34°04'54"). 1 ms. map ; on sheet 24 x 40 cm.
