GAP Girls

GAP Girls The GAP Girls (individually) were 'established' in 1963/64. To celebrate their 50th year they began sharing their travel adventures with the world!

GAP stands for (G)aynor, (A)ndrea & (P)auline three bff's from country Victoria (Aust) based in Horsham. We all have teenage (and older) kids and husbands whom we like to escape from, from time to time by heading off on various adventures. We value our friendship enormously and that's something we believe you gain once you reach 50 - a very special age although we believe 60 is even better! We enc

ourage women (& men) under 50 to appreciate their age no matter what, as we all strive to reach a ripe old age! Anyway, as we develop our brand 'GAP Girls', our adventure tours have begun to grab the attention of the nation where our mission is to promote local businesses wherever we travel. Whether that is finding the best food, the best wine, the best accommodation, the best attractions or simply the best fun, we want to share our adventures as 3 rural Aussie women travelling to places where the locals don't even know exist (or they do and have never visited!). We aim to travel to 3 different places a year with blogs on how we plan our adventures throughout the year. We always dedicate a funny moment on our adventures to our late friend Michelle Stehn who died from a melanoma in 2006. She started the rot in 2004 when we celebrated A's 40th birthday with a trip to Melbourne to see the very first Australian Idol concert (we were young, impressionable and adventurous!). The posts dedicated to Michelle are the ones you'll see of us wearing black curly wigs which she brought on that first trip as a memento of Australian Idol winner, Guy Sebastian (when his hair style reflected the afro). Since then we have always had a trip to Melbourne, initially never imagining her not being with us. So join us on our adventures, we love feedback!

It’s been a hot minute since we began celebrating ten years of our ‘GAP YEAR’.

It was only meant to last one year as we three girls launched into our Gap Year as fifty year olds.

Ten years later we continue the celebrations as sixty year olds still travelling the world.

Our ‘baby’ P celebrated her 60th in July and today we find ourselves in Bali.

G celebrated her 60th in New Zealand in December and A in February at ‘Flacks Road’!

As we reactivate our travels, we will share more photos over the coming weeks reflecting on our 60th year of living!

Today we celebrated having a driver! Thank you to the very best, our brother Gede from G’Day Mate Tours Bali.

Can’t believe it!!! It’s been a year since we’ve been anywhere!

Today we took a trip to Casterton on the promise that the meals at the Albion Hotel Motel Casterton were amazing. Truth is they were!! World class!

Not only that, a few shops were open, so we did what comes naturally and went shopping! In addition G and A won two of three $50 vouchers being given away today between three shops! Big thanks to Sunnyside & Co, The Back Paddock 3311 and Element Cafe & Larder! Great hospitality and fabulous service!

A beautiful drive to a gorgeous destination was a memorable experience! We will be back ♥️

Thanks to everyone who made our day so good!

Today was spent with a slow start for some. G&P ventured off for a morning walk while A caught up in her beauty sleep - it didn’t work!

From 11.00am - 1.30pm we swanned around the hot springs hopping in caves and into freezing plunge pools - no pics as we just enjoyed the moment. (Ya gotta do that sometimes!)

After a delicious dinner at the Lady Bay Resort we trotted out to the beach in our good gear to see the seagulls.

The evening was capped off with a spectacular vision of the blood moon! The timing was perfect because in 10 minutes it was gone and the lights of the apartments were turned off! A magical moment in time for sure!

Bubbles and steak! Not sure if that’s the right pairing, but it’ll do!

GAP Girls outback picnic adventure!

Today we travelled the backroads to Dimboola to find a spot along the Wimmera River on the edge of The Little Desert to have a picnic.

G made the lemon fill sponge
A made fresh sandwiches
P made sausage rolls

Throw in a tablecloth, flowers from each girls garden, a bottle of Wendy’s Block Shiraz from Norton Estate Wines, a posh cake stand, some edible flowers and a bottle of etchsparkling alcohol & sugar free honey & rosewater and you have a perfect Sunday picnic! Very nice 💗💗💗

Find the GAP Girls in the main tomorrow! We may not all be there at the same time!

⭐️ FLOOD THE MAIN- This Friday the 10th of September ⭐️

Ellie from the Warrack Butchery came up with this idea to share to the people of Warracknabeal and she's given us the green light to share throughout our towns.

Tomorrow presents a fabulous opportunity to get around our business communities.

She says "Anything you can do to support local, no matter how big or small.

Go for a walk down the street, grab a coffee and say gday to a friendly face you haven’t see in a while, start Xmas shopping, book that appointment, order some flowers for a friend, order something from that local online business, pop in and say gday to a store person who’s been stuck behind closed doors, top up your fuel tank. You don’t even need to spend a cent, let’s just get some smiling faces out there for the day! Any gesture will go a long way! 😷”

We can't agree more! Get out of lockdown tomorrow and
