Totally agree! Let's support local!
UHoliday Destination NSW Visit NSW Pipit Restaurant
CYCLONE ALFRED UPDATE
It’s still wet and windy and there is active damage across our region, but we are grateful and relieved that the worst scary wind phase last night was ok (our windows are intact! power is on! roads open!)
Pipit will reopen as normal from Thursday 13th March
SUPPORT HOSPO
Across GC and NNSW, keep supporting your local suppliers, farmers, restaurants and cafes where you can, because reopening is not always a simple “back to normal”.
Like in the 2022 Floods, we’ll see interconnected system impacts likely for weeks - and these are challenges people might not see or talk about such as:
> increased cancellations (both locals and visitors impacted)
> less fishing boats due to rough seas impacts local seafood supply chains (last time, we saw reduced wholesale lists of frozen or unsustainable species like farmed salmon 👎which we actively don’t use )
> agricultural impact (eg flower/seed damage) has flow-on effects months later on future fruit seasons
> when Brisbane/ GC warehouses are impacted we also see some flow ons to NNSW wholesalers
The recovery weeks are the best time to support local hospo too, because in the immediate phase we’ll also most see and feel the direct value of shops/cafes/hospo/pubs being social spaces. They are what urbanists call “third spaces” (between home and work) and these are important places that help people check in with their community, lessen the anxiety and reestablish routines
VOUCHER RE-GIFT
Like in the last floods, Pipit will also regift/transfer/donate any unredeemed gift vouchers to someone you think needs some mental downtime or relief in the recovery phase. Just email [email protected] to amend vouchers
Stay safe in the rain and clean up!
Hope to see you in Pottsville soon
