FBI Travel Advisor Jeff recently enjoyed an 8-day The Danube Waltz river cruise with Viking. Here's what he had to say:

"The cruise was exceptional. The service was impeccable. Our Cruise Director Dave and all the Viking staff were amazing. We had fellow travellers from the UK, USA and Canada, and we all got to know each other over the eight days.

Sailing along the Danube was simply magnificent and going through the locks was so interesting. We enjoyed the included city tours and also went on a few excursions (at additional cost). Highlights included a dumpling cooking class in Krems, a day trip to Salzburg with a 'Sound of Music' tour, and walking tours in Vienna and Bratislava.

The food was excellent with themed meals based on the location we were in.

Our cabin was a practical sized stateroom with a French balcony. Located on the middle and upper decks, these cabins feature a floor-to-ceiling sliding glass wall with a balustrade, bringing in fresh air but without a step-out space. Bathrooms were comfortable.

Viking really know how to look after their travellers and we had a wonderful time!"

Independent FBI Travel Advisor Amanda recently visited Crete and stayed at Phāea Blue. Here’s what she had to say:

“One of the standout properties I experienced in Crete was Phāea Blue, a beautiful boutique resort overlooking the sparkling waters of Crete. Nestled near the traditional fishing village of Plaka, and across the water from Spinaloga, which is just a short boat ride away, the resort is in one of the most beautiful locations on the island. It has a lovely, quiet beachfront and a great selection of experiences both in and around the hotel.

The rooms and suites are spacious, elegant and designed with natural materials and soft tones that reflect the surrounding landscape. Many feature private pools or generous terraces, some with spectacular sea views and others looking out onto the lovely gardens and Crete’s mountains.

What I really love about Phāea Blue is its focus on Cretan cuisine. My favourite experience was the PHĀEA Farmer's Feast, a wonderful evening where local farmers, producers and chefs come together at a pop-up restaurant for a delicious Cretan feast. Gathered around a communal table, we enjoyed seasonal dishes made from local ingredients, while hearing the stories of the people behind them. It was a genuine and memorable experience that perfectly captured the warmth, hospitality and rich culture of the island.

I also really enjoyed The Blue Door Taverna at the PHĀEA Blue Beach Club. The food and the views were just amazing.

Phāea Blue really is more than just a luxury resort. I felt like I experienced the ‘real’ Crete through the wonderful staff, the locals and their stories and of course, the delicious food. It is the kind of resort that I’ll be recommending to all of my clients who are travelling to this part of the world.”

FBI Travel Advisor Jeff recently returned from an extended holiday overseas. As part of his holiday, he cruised on an 11-night Celebrity Cruise, aboard the Celebrity Constellation, visiting Italy, Croatia and Montenegro. Here’s what he had to say:

“I’ve cruised with Celebrity Cruises before and once again, we had a fantastic time. This itinerary is very popular and there were 1,900 people on our cruise but it never felt crowded. We had a mid-ship Balcony Concierge Cabin which suited us perfectly. While the Constellation isn’t one of the newest ships, it was very clean and comfortable and the service was amazing.

Some of our onshore highlights were taking a boat from Portofino to Camogli which was such a lovely town to spend time in. We also hired a driver to take us around Cinque Terre and saw five historic fishing villages. This area is simply stunning with its dramatic cliffside houses, vineyards, and the national park. I’d also recommend this area for those who like hiking and walking, as the national park has some beautiful trails with ocean views.

Celebrity Cruises are a great cruise line for those that don’t want to go on a huge cruise ship but are still after great value, delicious food, fun, music and entertainment. Their cruises are really popular so I recommend booking well in advance.”
