Wow what a parent!

A couple reportedly left their 10-year-old son behind at Barcelona Airport after discovering his passport had expired and boarded their vacation flight anyway.

According to media reports, the parents arranged for a relative to pick up the boy, but airport staff noticed he was alone and alerted police. The child told them his parents had already taken off, heading to their home country with another younger sibling.

An airport worker who witnessed the scene posted about it online, calling the moment “completely surreal.” Her video has since gone viral with over 300,000 views.

Police removed the couple’s luggage from the plane and brought them in for questioning. It’s unclear if they were formally arrested.

“They saw it as very normal,” the airport worker said. “Obviously, I didn't. And neither did the police.”
