Celebrating Volunteer Week in Greenvale
As part of Volunteer Week last week, we celebrated our incredible volunteers with a special trip to Greenvale, made even more memorable thanks to the support of the local community, country hospitality at its finest.
The day started with a delicious morning tea at the Greenvale Roadhouse, where we were greeted with friendly smiles, warm hospitality, and a photo opportunity with the famous ‘Pinky’. 😊
From there, Carolyn from the 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 took us for a walk, sharing the history of the town along with some exciting upcoming projects, such as a new mural and giant photo frame installation. We also stopped at the iconic, and very quirky, Sausage Tree! 🌭🌳
We then visited the Greenvale Country Club Inc. Golf Club NQ, where we heard about the incredible locals who keep the clubhouse running and the golf course looking top-notch, leaving a few of our volunteers wishing they’d packed their golf clubs! ⛳👏
Lunch at the Three Rivers Hotel, named after the famous Slim Dusty song, was a real highlight, great food, rich history, and friendly staff. We also took a moment to recognise some special volunteer service milestones:
👏 Bill – 5 years
👏 Mac – 10 years
We finished off the day with a visit to the 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞 & 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞, the perfect place to chat with locals, enjoy a cuppa, browse some local products, or pick up a book from the library.
A fantastic day all round, a big thank you to the Greenvale community for helping us celebrate our volunteers. Be sure to include Greenvale in your travel plans when visiting our region!
We would like to thank Douglas Coaches for getting us there & back safely & driving us around & Sweet Temptation by Stace for the delicious cupcakes
