🌀 NSI Service Update 🌀

We’re pleased to be on the path back to normal services!

🔹 Vehicle Ferry – operating as normal. Bookings are available online: https://www.sealink.com.au/north-stradbroke-island/. Please note that phone lines are experiencing high demand, so wait times may be long.

🔹 Passenger Ferry – operating during daylight hours only (Wednesday to Friday) due to the risk of debris. The first service departs Cleveland at 5:45am, and the last departs Dunwich at 5:30pm.

🎉 Unless we advise otherwise, please assume that all services return to normal on Saturday 🎉

🙏 Our team has been working tirelessly for the past 10 days, many while also facing the impacts of this weather event on their own homes and families. We know everyone is eager to return to normal, but please be patient and kind to our team—they’re doing everything they can to help you.

Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe, and look out for each other. 💙

🌀 Service Update – Tuesday 11 March 🌀

Our services are steadily recovering, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate these challenges. Here’s the current plan for tomorrow (Tuesday):

🔹 Vehicle Ferries:
Great news! Our vehicle ferries will be back to their normal timetable from Tuesday. You can check the schedule and make bookings online here: https://www.sealink.com.au/north-stradbroke-island/

🔹 Passenger Ferries:
Passenger ferries will operate during daylight hours, starting with the first service from Cleveland at 5:45am and the last service departing Dunwich at 5:30pm. We are unable to operate at night due to the risk of debris, so please plan your travel accordingly.

⚠️ Dunwich Office Closure:
Our Dunwich office did not cope well in the rain and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We have a reservations consultant stationed in Dunwich and another on a vehicle ferry, but operations are still challenging.

✉️ NSI bookings are open online. For any enquiries, please contact our team at 07 3488 5300 or email [email protected].

🙏 Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work hard to restore full service. We’ll continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.

🚨 Update on the NSI Passenger Ferry (Monday) 🚨

We're pleased to share that Yalingbila is back from the yard, and we are recommencing operations! ⛴️

Due to the risk of debris in the water, we can only operate during daylight hours at this stage. She is operating her normal timetable within this period:

🔹 First service: 12:45pm departing Cleveland
🔹 Last service: 5:30pm departing Dunwich

We'll be operating tomorrow as well, subject to daylight hours only, at this stage. We'll share another update regarding all of tomorrow's services soon!

🚨 Update Regarding Vehicle Ferry Bookings 🚨

Our team is working hard to move existing bookings and process new requests as quickly as possible - for both NSI and SMBI. Unfortunately, some of our offices are still without power and internet, which is making things more challenging.

❗️ As a result, our phone lines are experiencing very long wait times. For those with internet, you can make bookings online for today only at this stage. Those without internet or who cannot get through on the phones should try our standby lanes. Walk-on passengers don't need bookings.

Current Departures Today (pending weather):
🔹 Ex Dunwich: 8:00am, 10:30am, 1.00pm, 3.00pm 5.30pm
🔹 Ex Cleveland: 9:30am, 12.00pm 2.00pm 4.30pm

Rest assured, if you had a booking or sent us a new request, the team will get to it as soon as they can. If you need to follow up, you can reach us at 07 3488 5300 or via email at [email protected].

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Thank you for bearing with us! 💙

🌀 Cyclone Recovery Update – Sunday 9 March, 3:30pm 🌀

We have approval from the Harbour Master to operate regular services and have some good news about tomorrow (Monday). The following is highly dependent on weather and other factors and is subject to change.

🔷 At least one of our vehicle ferries, Sea Breeze, will be operating tomorrow (Monday) for all passengers. Emergency services and those with existing bookings will have priority, and our teams are currently contacting these customers.

🔷 Sea Breeze will run its regular services, which you can find on our timetable (times marked SB): https://www.sealink.com.au/north-stradbroke-island/ferry-information/timetable/

❌ Our passenger ferry remains offline as it is currently on the slip up the river.
✅ Walk-on passengers are welcome on the vehicle ferries.

Passengers wanting to book a vehicle on the ferry will be able to do so later tonight or tomorrow. We’re sorry we cannot provide a clearer timeline at this stage. Those unable to make a booking due to a lack of power or phone service can try joining our standby lanes tomorrow.

🙏 Our teams are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to restore full operations. Some of our team members have also been deeply affected by this ongoing weather event, as we know many of you have. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the challenges.

We’ll continue to provide updates here and on our website as the situation evolves.

🌀 Cyclone Recovery Update – 10am, Sunday 9 March 🌀

We have been granted an exemption by The Brisbane Regional Harbour Master to operate vehicle ferries for ESSENTIAL SUPPORT ONLY.

When it is safe to do so, we can operate vehicle ferries during daylight hours to transport emergency and essential services supporting the recovery effort. We cannot operate passenger ferries.

Our teams are currently preparing for operations:
🔷 Safety Checks: Our crew is mobilising our vehicle ferries, including thorough safety checks.
🔷 Weather Monitoring: We’re monitoring the ongoing high winds, which are currently impacting our ability to return.
🔷 Coordination: We’re working closely with emergency services and will transport them when it is safe to do so.

Maritime Safety Queensland will conduct a further assessment of the Brisbane Pilotage Area. The waterway will be reopened when it is deemed safe and appropriate to do so.

🙏 We know many of you are eager to travel to your homes or back to the mainland. Please be assured, we are doing everything we can to operate. Once we have approval from the Harbour Master and conditions allow it, we will be operating as normal.

We will provide another update when there is more information to share. Please stay tuned to facebook and our website: https://www.sealink.com.au/north-stradbroke-island/ferry-status

🌀 Cyclone Recovery Update – Saturday 8 March 🌀

We’ve entered the recovery phase and are making every effort to resume regular services as soon as possible.

What we’re doing:
👉 Weather Monitoring: Wind is still high and is expected to increase today. We’re monitoring this as well as any potential flooding.
👉 Safety Checks: Our team is beginning to inspect vessels, infrastructure and waterways when it is safe to do so.
👉 Coordination: We’re working with the relevant authorities and emergency services on the next steps, including approval to operate.

✅ At this stage, we expect some operations to resume tomorrow (Sunday), depending on all of the above factors. When we recommence, we will prioritise transporting emergency services.

We’ll provide another update as soon as we have more to share. In the meantime, we hope everyone is staying safe.

⚠ NSI CYCLONE ALFRED UPDATE – 2PM, THURSDAY 6 MARCH ⚠

Tropical Cyclone Alfred is now expected to make landfall late Friday or early Saturday. Due to the ongoing severe weather, ferry services will not operate today (Thursday), tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday.

What happens next?

👉 Once the cyclone passes and it is safe for our teams, we will conduct a full safety assessment of our vessels and infrastructure to ensure everything is operational before we return to service.
👉 Once it is safe to resume services, priority will be given to emergency services and those assisting with the recovery.

🔹 We’ll make every effort to resume services as soon as possible and will provide further updates when we can.🔹

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe, and we’ll be in touch again when we have more information to share.

⚠ NSI CYCLONE ALFRED UPDATE – 9:30AM, WEDNESDAY 5 MARCH ⚠

As of last night, all NSI SeaLink ferry services have now stopped. At this stage, there will be no ferry services today, tomorrow or Friday. Customers with existing bookings will be contacted directly.

Once the cyclone passes and it is safe for our teams, we will conduct a full safety assessment of our vessels and shoreside infrastructure. This includes ensuring everything is safe and operational before we return to service. At this stage, we expect to do this sometime Friday afternoon.

We’ll make every effort to resume services as soon as possible and will provide further updates when we can.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe, and we’ll be in touch again when we have more information to share.
