Far from the reefs and rainforests, our Papua New Guinea expedition took us high into the misty mountains of the Highlands - home to the remarkable Huli people.
Known for their elaborate wigs crafted from their own hair, vibrant face paint, and deep cultural traditions, the Huli have called these rugged valleys home for centuries. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, fertile gardens, and rolling grasslands, a visit here offers a fascinating glimpse into one of the world's most culturally diverse nations.
Beyond the striking appearance lies a rich culture shaped by ancestral knowledge, storytelling, connection to the land, and traditions that continue to thrive today.
From remote villages to warm smiles and unforgettable encounters, spending time with the Huli people was a powerful reminder that some of the most meaningful travel experiences happen far from the beaten path.
