Our dear Grey Nomad Dog is now truely an angel having crossed the rainbow bridge last week.

Also known as Harls, she had acute lymphoma which had affected her spleen, lungs, eyes and ears. May those wings allow her to continue on amazing adventures. 💕

"You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on."
by David Harkins

She will always be in our hearts.

If a peaceful pet friendly waterside freedom camp with a few mod cons (such as this awesome communal firepit) is what you want then this one could be for you.

Level shaded or sunny sites, toilets and an amazing waterside camp kitchen (byo everything).

Location: Chinchilla Weir, Chinchilla, just 300km NW of Brisbane, on the Western Downs Queensland.

A walk down memory lane... ‘cause I’ve been here before! I love checkin’ out all the many nooks and crannies in this amazing pet friendly historical village. You will too.

As well as a great village atmosphere they have lots of awesome displays including memorabilia, vehicles, rocks and shells. I attended a special night event on the grounds and found an extra special touch of magic.

Location: Miles Historical Village Museum, opposite the pet friendly Miles Crossroads Caravan Park, Miles, Western Downs Queensland. 140km east of Roma and 340km NW of Brisbane.

Meet Mick the blue cattle dog. He has been immortalised in stone for his heroic deeds. He had saved his owner from sure death alone in the bush pinned under his injured horse in 1901.

The pinned and badly injured stockman scratched a message for help into his metal matchbox, threaded it into his belt, strapped it to Mick's neck & sent him off to find help. Mick found help and successfully led them to his beloved human.

Location: This memorial to Mick now sits proudly outside the Visitor centre in Wandoan, Queensland. A must visit for all would-be hero dogs.

Stay: At the pet friendly free camp at Waterloo Plains Environmental Park Wandoan Qld. Level sites with toilets and showers. Good walk around the lagoon.

Loved the Wyandra Beach! (That is seriously what they call it - it even has brown signs to get you there 🤣) Lots of unbelievably cool water to play in and soft sand everywhere. Great place to spend a few wonderful hours exploring along the river bed. 🐾🐾 Lovin’ the contrasts of the outback.

Location: Wyandra, 850kms west of Brisbane, halfway between Charleville and Cunnamulla, when you want to Experience Outback Queensland, Australia.

FYI The Wyandra Pub is a good pet friendly pub with lots of shaded tables outside.

On a farm-stay most doggos want to sniff out the animals but I got caught checkin’ out the happy hour hub at Gidgee’s Bush Camp. 🤣 Surrounded by lush green grass this spot offered a great reprieve from the outback heat for me and my big fur coat! I was so impressed that there were no prickles! 🐾🐾🐾 (Note: This precious well cared for grass is for enjoying not for camping on - plenty of room for that beyond.)

They also sell real coffee every morning in their cool shop at the entance! Makes for a good start to the day! 🤣

Location: Gidgee Smith Bags & Gidgee's Bush Camp, Morven, (midway between Charleville & Mitchell), outback Qld. Just 1.5km into town if you want dinner at the Morven Hotel - Sadleir's Waterhole.

Basic toilets, paid shower, firepits, shade or open space for camping. Big rig accessible. Level.

Surprisingly there are only ever a maximum of 15 campers at any one time so you’ll never be crowded out - but you do need to book ahead!

Like many places in the Qld outback, Gidgee Bush Camp is closing now for summer but they will be back for next season.

Great to see this tiny outback CP has big ideas when it comes to looking after ALL their guests!! Fenced drive thru sites with gates at each end. 💕 Easily fits the moho and tow car. Love being off lead on site! Thanks to Glenn and Wendy for daring to do things differently. 🙏

Of course now the other side of this gate looks mighty appealing! 🤣

Location: Wyandra Post Office, Store & Caravan Park, Wyandra, 100km south of Charleville, 850km west of Brisbane, outback Qld.

And while you are in town check out ‘The Beach’! With oodles of sand and plenty of cool outback river water for me to play in this spot on the Warrego River (just up the road and down a dirt track) was a winner in the heat of the day. 😀

Some days I just feel very small!
Look at the size of Charlotte and her pups.
At 3.5 metres tall and 10 metres long I am dwarfed by her but it looks like I caught her attention! 🤣🤣

Location: Charlotte, Jasper and Cory live in their very own sculpture park called Knotosaurus Park in Eromanga, far outback Qld. It is over 1000kms west of Brisbane and over 300km west of Charleville.
