Epic weekend at Cradle for the first of our off season trips. We had a stellar time canyoning and kayaking

The nip in the air lets you know you’re alive and we get some of the clearest and calmest conditions through autumn and winter - particularly for kayaking on Dove Lake.

Check out the off season page on our website if you want to get out for an adventure at Cradle Mountain in the next few months.

Mother’s Day kayak on Dove Lake!

The fagus is out and it looks like amazing weather up on Dove Lake this Sunday and we have some spots on our Dove Lake kayak tour.

Accessible to all ages from 6 up, on this trip we take you for a paddle in kayaks hand built from King Billy pine on one of the prettiest lakes in the world. It is $170 per person.

If you’ve got a mum you’d like to treat, bring her along for a paddle this Mother’s Day.

Give us a call or check out the website to book.

And that’s a wrap on season number 16 at Cradle Mountain for us! These photos all from our last Dove Canyon and kayak trips last Thursday.

We will have trips out over the off season, mainly in the Dove Lake Kayak. Hopefully that will happen most weeks, conditions permitting. Shoot us an email if you’re keen and we’ll try to make it happen.

Thanks to everyone who came out on a trip with us this season and to our legendary crew of guides, whose energy and enthusiasm are what make our trips great.

Bookings are open for next season and we’re already looking forward to future adventures at Cradle Mountain.

We are in to the last week of the season! Conditions look amazing for both canyoning and kayaking this weekend.

We’ll have less frequent kayak trips going through winter. If you want to get out canyoning with us this season, though, you’d better get in quick.

Got an electric bus! So far as we can tell, we’re the first tour company in Tasmania to have a fully electric bus.

Come on one of our tours at Cradle Mountain and you’ll likely be catching a ride in this bad boy.

With fuel prices where they are, we will save about $4000 for every 10,000 km driven, compared to the old diesel bus we have swapped out for this one. And it will be a lot more convenient. We’ll just plug it in at base every night and not have to worry about refuelling.

And for a bonus we’ll be avoiding putting thousands of kilograms of diesel fumes into the air each year, which has to be a win, even if you’re a climate sceptic (Google ‘do diesel fumes give you cancer?’).

Crazy not to I reckon.

The bus was purchased with help from the Spirit Preparedness Fund for Businesses supported by the Tasmanian Government through the Department of State Growth

Hot tip: autumn at Cradle Mountain is epic. Spring, if we’re honest, is often rubbish. But autumn is great. The rivers have extra flow, but the weather is the most stable it gets all year. The winds are low and the light is lovely. And, of course, the fagus turns and we get a show of lovely autumn colours.

We’ve got kayak trips on the amazing Dove Lake in our hand built King Billy Pine kayaks going most days through autumn. Also canyoning trips most days and we have one three day packrafting trip left for the season.

Get yourself up to Cradle and have a lovely autumnal time.
