The Creswick Woollen Mills Story

Creswick Woollen Mills offers an exceptional destination for both tourists and locals alike. Conveniently located between Ballarat and Daylesford, the Mill is the perfect destination for day-trippers, holiday makers and tour groups, both large and small.

Founded in 1947 by Polish migrant, Paul Ryzowy, Creswick Woollen Mills is now the only coloured woollen spinning mill of its type in Australia.

‘A Very Fine Yarn’ is a highlight of a trip to Creswick Woollen Mills - an interactive exhibition that showcases the journey of natural fibres and the history of the Mill. Guests can follow the manufacturing process from its source on the alpaca through to how Creswick’s products end up on the shop shelf. The exhibit gives an interesting insight into how luxurious fibres are processed.

Visitors at the Mill can also experience the bustling café and enjoy a cup of coffee on arrival, or a freshly baked treat from the range of locally produced cake and slices. Stopping for lunch at the dynamic Mill café is highly recommended - local produce is championed across its hearty and generous menu.
