DJARINDJIN SETS SIGHTS ON THE FUTURE WITH LANDMARK 20-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN

The Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) has unveiled a landmark 20-year strategic plan aimed at driving long-term development and sustainability for the community on the Dampier Peninsula.

Despite ongoing challenges, DAC has marked several achievements, with leadership focused on creating lasting change in the region.

DAC Chief Executive Officer Nathan McIvor highlighted early progress, noting that systemic changes are already underway.

One of the key milestones has been the community’s increased economic independence through local enterprise.

“The 1st of February 2022, we took over full ownership and operation of our airport, Djarindjin Airport Proprietary Limited,”

“That airport basically provides us with around about 67% of funding to this organisation. It has enough funding to be able to continue to provide services to the oil and gas industry, and the dividends flow back into the community, which prop up the programs that we have that are funded by state and federal government.”

The DAC’s long-term strategy aims to strengthen economic opportunities, infrastructure, and service delivery, ensuring a sustainable future for Djarindjin and the broader Dampier Peninsula.
