30 July: Military strikes and reprisal attacks are intensifying in a number of locations in the Middle East today. There’s a risk of further escalation across the region in the coming days. There is also a growing concern about the risk of attacks on US interests globally.

If strikes occur in your location, prioritise your safety & follow the advice of local authorities, including any warnings to take shelter. If warned of an imminent attack, move to an enclosed hardened shelter, ideally underground or close to ground level. If that isn't possible, seek an inner room without windows.

Airspace closures & flight disruptions are occurring in some locations and more are possible, including at short notice. This could impact flights globally, including outside the Middle East. Confirm your flights before departing for the airport.

In the last two weeks, 17 travellers across the country have been stopped with alleged child abuse material on their electronic devices, leading to visa cancellations and arrests – this is more than one a day.

Tackling child exploitation is an operational priority for the ABF, and our officers are highly skilled at identifying individuals at our airports who attempt to carry this abhorrent material across the border.

We will use all our powers available to cancel visas, penalise and/or prosecute anyone who tries to enter our country and exploit vulnerable children.

Between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2025, ABF officers have stopped over 435 potential child s*x offenders at airports around the country.
