An ode from a very happy and very talented guest/ wordsmith - Thank you Rowan Woods ( 19th June 2025)
Kakadu Man
Rumour has it, up Kakadu way
There’s a crocodile man, “he Sab they say”
He grew up there and then one day
His family took him “a little bit long way”
To boarding school in Sydney town
He was bound for Bellevue Hill
The Scotts school it was calling him
He was heading for renown
He met a bloke named Craig down there,
A half back and a cox
He was a friendly little smiley bloke and he had ginger locks
From Condo town, another came, a bloke they nick named fudge,
His name was Rob and he was brown, and he didn’t
hold a grudge.
These three amigos, formed a bond, a brotherhood of sorts - a friendship for “a little bit long time”.
As well as Rugby they did purport that Rowing was a favoured sport
Stroke, stroke, stroke their cox (sorry, missed a comma)
Their cox was Craig, from the second eight he was.
Winding forward some several years
The name of Lord comes in to view
A business made by showing others
Arnhem Land and Kakadu
Sab did well, he made lots
But never forgot the boys from Scotts
And so we all are here today
On Lords Safaris final frey
A promise made to the boys one day
That a special tour would come their way
We now find our education
More complete and true
Sab has really done the job
Some examples; just a few.
Morning is the time of day that happens after 3.00, (am) and even
Afternoon it seems, begins at 5.15 (am)
A tent is just for wusses,
Designed to house the weak
And those who went to Riverview are just some kind of freak.
Porcelain is for pu**ys, a shovel’s all you need he thinks
and changing clothes is optional, as is washing when you stinks
For ailments just call Dr Sab, a cure is at hand,
For stomach cramps and diorhea, he’ll prescribe that you eat sand.
Don’t fear about a cough or cold, or a rash down in your pants, old Dr Sab will just prescribe a mouthful of green ants.
And do not fear a menstrual pain, or a headache or a sweat,
There’s a bush for that, a leaf or branch, or some taste you won’t forget.
Despite his very many faults,
Sab has made his mark
And if anyone wants to argue this
Well, he doesn’t give a fark
We thank you Sab, it’s been a treat
We’re glad you’ve had the balls
But we all know, as you do too, a new adventure calls
As the sun sets low on Lords Safaris late of Kakadu,
In a land across the sea
There’s a new adventure calling you And your darling Ann Marie.
