Drop into the Daylesford Regional Visitor Information Centre this month to see a pop-up exhibition of creative work by Irene Holub - a member of the Daylesford Arts Co-op.

Irene is a Deaf CALD artist, filmmaker, curator, director and advocate, whose interdisciplinary practice explores human connection through Deaf culture, language, and identity. Working across projection, film, performance, installation, poetry, ceramics, and multimedia, she uses visual storytelling to reveal unseen languages, lived experiences, and complex emotional landscapes.

The exhibition includes various pieces of Irene's creative practice, including these gorgeous stoneware cups.

One site, 22 lives lost, and stories that deserve to be remembered. On Sunday, Creswick Connect and the local community unveiled a significant new historical signage installation at the New Australasian No. 2 Mine Site, which commemorates its profound place in Australia's mining history and the tragic 1882 disaster that claimed the lives of so many miners.

We had the opportunity to visit the site with our team of volunteers from Creswick Visitor Information Centre to hear from local historian and graphic designer Robt Haughie, who was involved in bringing the project to life. It's a credit to the everyone and invites visitors to explore the stories of the people, places, and events that shaped Creswick as the starting point of the ‘Buried Rivers of Gold’ trail. ⛏️

➡️ Russell Cartledge woodwork (Creswick)
Drawn to the natural beauty and character of timber, Russell Cartledge from Russ Cartledge is a woodworker who specialises in turning pieces on the lathe, carving, and combining traditional techniques with modern materials. His vessels, bowls, and charcuterie boards are creations of true beauty.

➡️ Trisha Sertori Ceramics (Trentham)
The tall tree country of Hepburn has inspired Trisha Sertori for more than six decades. Today, as a potter, these forests provide the ash used in her glazes. Harvesting it from the fireplace of her Trentham cottage, Trisha mixes the ash with feldspar to form a glaze that fuses to her pots at 1280 degrees C. This temperature also transforms the clay into vitreous waterproof crockery – an alchemy dating back thousands of years.

Washhouse Pottery is the passion project of potter Evelyn Davidson Brooke and is located in Newbury (mid-way between Trentham and Blackwood). Her gorgeous ceramic vessels are fired to 1000 degrees C bisque, and to 1280 degrees C for the glaze. Each piece is food and dishwasher safe.

Lyn Cartledge at Lynette Cartledge has always believed that the simplest things in life carry the greatest meaning. Now retired and living a quiet life in Creswick in country Victoria, she spends her days doing what she loves most — knitting beautiful, handcrafted baby blankets from the finest pure merino wool. Each blanket Lyn creates is entirely handmade. She carefully selects colours inspired by nature — soft creams, gentle greys, and earthy tones — and incorporates subtle patterns that give every piece a timeless, heirloom quality.

Happy Winter Sounds! What an incredible start to this year's festival. Lior's intimate show at St Peter's in Daylesford was nothing short of spellbinding. His beautiful voice filled the church with whimsical sincerity, accompanied by a string quartet and special guests. And there's so much more to come throughout the festival.
