We believe comfort is a key factor and greatly impacts how much you enjoy your walk. Your gear is important, and your pack matters!

That's why we supply you with an Osprey day pack to use during your Southern Ocean Walk. We don't expect our guests to have all the gear, nor should you spend money on something new (especially if you're not a regular walker).

Our guests carry only their lunch, drinks, and personal items during the day. We aim to keep your pack light, and we spent a lot of time researching the best way to do this.

Osprey is a leader in the pack market, and their Stratos model is ideally suited for our day hikes. It features a suspended mesh back panel, which is very rare in day packs. This ensures excellent airflow and prevents clammy perspiration that often occurs between the pack and the back. The internal frame places most of the weight on your hips via a generously padded waist belt, making for a very enjoyable day’s walk. Last but not least, the shoulder straps are fully adjustable to accommodate a range of heights and body sizes.

Long story short: We’ve taken a load off your back, and the only downside is that at the end of your Southern Ocean Walk, you'll need to part ways with your Osprey pack, but chances are you'll want to buy one for yourself!

We often mention the beauty of Deep Creek National Park and the South Coast. And we often share the exquisite food and wine, but let's talk about your stay with us during your Southern Ocean Walk...

The immersive experience continues off trail as our accommodation is exclusively located in the heart of Deep Creek Conservation Park. Sit back on the balcony with a pre-dinner drink and watch the local wildlife go about its business at close range.

Staying at our comfortable homestead each night means you’ll only unpack once. Our unique location also means that transfers to and from the trail are short, leaving you refreshed after your walk. Enjoy an invigorating foot bath and reflect on the day’s discoveries while our staff prepare dinner.

The charm and secluded setting of our accommodation will soon have you settled into a blissful state of relaxation.

We believe in the details.

Why are our guided walks different?

1. We're not one of the big players. We're a family-owned and operated business, and we have chosen to only focus on one trail - the Wild South Coast Way, the most breathtaking southern coastal sections of the 1,200km Heysen Trail.

2. We live here and have developed an intimate knowledge of the trail, its flora and fauna, as well as the local history.

3. Our tour groups never exceed 8 participants, which ensures a personalised experience for each guest.

4. Australia.com regards us among the top guided walks in Australia

5. We source a wide range of foods produced locally to offer a bespoke dining experience like no other.

6. We work with a support team of local staff who share our enthusiasm and help make our walk the personal experience that it is.

7. We like to think of our guests as close family and treat them accordingly.

Is it time for you to step beyond the trail? Where every detail is crafted, every moment immersive, and every walk feels deeply personal, connecting you to nature, place, and each other.

Winter departures are filling up, so book your Southern Ocean Walk now.

It might be a bit early in the day to talk wine, but the flurry is underway and crews have been up early, handpicking bunches of grapes from these vines, ensuring the fruit is just right.

With a cooler start to summer, this year's vintage in McLaren Vale got going a little later than usual, but it's all happening now! The grapes are ripe with a perfect balance of flavours and texture.

Our walks aren't just about the stunning landscape, scenery, flora and fauna. We also showcase the region's mouthwatering produce and pair it perfectly with a handpicked selection of wines from McLaren Vale.

So, here's cheers on a successful 2026 Vintage. We can't wait to share this wine with our guests next autumn 🍇 🍷
