You never quite know what’s going to appear beneath the surface of Shark Bay… 🐙

We were out snorkelling around Cape Ransonnet when, seemingly out of nowhere, this octopus appeared.

One minute you're looking across the limestone reef, and the next you're watching one of the ocean's best escape artists moving across the bottom.

Octopus are masters of camouflage, able to change their colour and appearance to blend into their surroundings — which makes encounters like this all the more special.

It's one of the things we love about exploring Shark Bay by water. You can head out looking for one thing and end up discovering something completely unexpected.

You never really know what you'll find out there.
