DERBY || HOME TO THE BIGGEST TIDES IN AUSTRALIA!

Sunday saw one of the biggest spring tides of the year, with a tidal change of around 10.5 metres.

When that tide turns and starts pushing back in, the sheer volume and speed of the water is incredible — and this time we managed to capture it!

This timelapse was filmed over just 15 minutes, showing how quickly the incoming tide starts covering the exposed sandbar.

Even more impressive — it took only around 45 minutes to go from a fully exposed sandbar to having water underneath Kimberley Xplorer.

With the big spring tides in Derby over the weekend, we thought what better time to take the big girl out to the sandbar and give her a clean before she finishes up the season!

A bit of elbow grease and Kimberley Xplorer is looking fresh again.

DERBY’S FASTEST MUDDIES ARE READY TO RACE!

Forget the Broome cup … this is the race that really matters.

Mary Island Fishing Club, Derby Mud Crab Races are on, and these highly trained athletes have been preparing all year… mostly by eating, fighting and sitting in the mud.

Pick your muddy, yell questionable encouragement from the sidelines and hope the stubborn bu**er actually heads in the right direction.

Only in Derby.
