Yesterday, Mountain Huts Preservation Society, of which I am a member, had a working bee on what is now known as Tin Hut. We drove to the end of Lake Augusta car park and then walked 4 kms in to the site. Parks had flown in the gear for us, which saved a lot of time as it would have been a lot of shiffling and carrying. It was known originally as Roddas hut, and I have included a photo of it from Simon Cubits book, Mountain stories Volume 2. The photo depicts the search party looking for William Nutting, who went missing in May 1927, his remains were found in September 1927 near the Walls of Jerusalem. Anyway we spent a full day and managed to get a lot done, front wall replaced where the chimney was located, lifted the floor and put in two new base places on the outside walls and fixed up new corner footings. I wandered up to the little knoll on the western side of the hut and had gerat views towards the Walls of Jeruselm, Tin Hut lake and back towards Lake Augusta. On the way out encountered a lot of wombats and Bennetts Wallabys
