Elephant Hills, Khao Sok, Thailand.
10 domesticated elephants are cared for in their retirement after being rescued from various 'work'. Born in captivity, these elephants could never survive in the wild. Each elephant has her own mahout who leads her to food, swimming holes & bedtime shelter. The mahout dedicates much of his own life to his charge who lives to 80 years old!

I've just arrived at Elephant Hills, Thailand, located in the lush jungle highlands of Khao Sok, 3 hours north of Phuket.
