Chapter 2 – In the Life of a Travel Advisor
What a year 2020 was for my beloved travel industry. It honestly felt like it was one soul destroying moment after another. The borders closed, the borders opened, the borders closed, the borders open … repeat! I’ve spent tireless hours over the past 10 months cancelling holidays and trying to refund as much money as I’ve been able to, to my clients on cancelled trips – some successes, some just have the awesome bonus of their next holiday already paid for 😊 It was a hard year!
Sadly, at the end the year, Travel Counsellors announced they could no longer sustain the Australian branch of the company and advised me they would cease operations in Australia in March 2021. It’s been such an honour and privilege to be a part of such a wonderful, people focused company for the last 6 years, thus making it so hard for this change. The last 5 weeks have been a grieving process of letting Travel Counsellors go, and looking for a new home to base my business from. The experiences Travel Counsellors have awarded me with have been some of the best travel times and customer relations joy that I’ve ever experienced in my working career; I will be forever grateful.
This brings me to the next chapter in my journey … as with all things, there is always hope and light to be found, and it is with this in mind that I look forward to a very bright future with a new homebased agency called MTA ‘Mobile Travel Agents’. MTA have more than 20 years’ experience in the homebased travel business and, like Travel Counsellors, are a personal, customer focused agency. How blessed am I to have fallen on my feet with a new company – yes, there is some rebuilding and growing (not a bad thing!), but fortunately, nothing really changes for you, my fabulous and loyal clients! You will see different branding on my advertising and FB page and there’ll be a new email address to contact me on, however the same friendly service that has sent you on all sorts of wonderful adventures over the past 6 years will remain the same, and I am very excited to get back into doing this for you all when the world wakes up again to travel over the coming months and years.
Big thanks for all your support over the past 6 years, I look forward to bigger and better things for all of us in the next chapter. G xx
