As a family owned and operated business Cat Balou Cruises have gained the reputation of maintaining high safety standards, exceptional service, and value on all their cruises, as well as sharing their love of the area and nature with their passengers. They also assist various organizations with whale and dolphin research. Cat Balou Cruises won the South Coast Tourism Awards in 2013 & 2014 for Ecotourism, as well as the Tourism Small Business Operator in 2014. Adding to these awards are Certificate of Excellence and Customer Choice awards from TRIP ADVISOR. Our 16 metre catamaran has been designed for optimum viewing and comfort and can carry 72 passengers, however they carry less than this number to ensure maximum comfort and viewing. All cruises depart from the Main Wharf , Port of EDEN , a town of 3000 residents, situated on the shores of historic Twofold Bay. Cat Balou Cruises rebrands under Sapphire Coastal Adventures - If you have been a long time Cat Balou supporter we invite you to jump over and follow our Sapphire Coastal Adventures account on Facebook Sapphire Coastal Adventures to receive our daily Eden whale sightings.

As many of you know in August 2023 Sapphire Coastal Adventures purchased Cat Balou Cruises. Since then we have been very busy. Our boat Cat Balou has had complete sandblast, repaint and refit and is now whale watching in our Sydney business . We have brought our 24m powered catamaran Bubbles to Eden where she is conducting daily whale watching cruises this southern migration. Bubbles is a very stable and comfortable whale watching boat with a large indoor cabin and plenty of outdoor viewing areas for watching the whales. We look forward to welcoming you onboard Bubbles this whale watching season. Bubbles will also remain in Eden for the summer Cruise Ship season.

Cat Balou Cruises has now been rebranded under our Sapphire Coastal Adventures umbrella - check out our new website www.sapphirecoastaladventures.com.au designed by local company The Destination Agency. You will also notice new signs down at the wharf and new brochures throughout town.

We look forward to continuing to building the business that our good friends Ros and Gordon Butt started many years ago.

We have operated whale watching tours from Merimbula & Sydney since 2008, Bermagui since 2020 and are excited to also be operating tours from Eden. We love Eden and the Sapphire Coast and are passionate about promoting the region to the wider Australian and international community. With its whaling heritage, natural beauty and friendly local community we believe that the Sapphire Coast is a world class whale watching destination.

It has been a busy time of late, welcoming cruise ships into Eden and showing them the amazing wildlife and who call Twofold Bay home. We have loved meeting people from all over the world, sharing stories from Eden’s past and promoting the Sapphire Coast as an awesome holiday destination for them to come back to in the future.

We have been seeing some amazing dolphin action, seals, white bellied sea eagles and quite a lot of hammerhead sharks 🦈

Today was a lovely morning to show passengers from Seabourne Odyssey around Twofold Bay. The local bottlenose dolphins joined us as we cruised past Aslings Beach. Love seeing the faces of people when they are watching dolphins 😀🐬😀🐬😀Our Eden Wildlife Tours are departing daily at present. The departure times do vary slightly as we have quite a few Cruise Ships visiting Eden over the coming months. These tours are a fantastic way to see Twofold Bay, learn about the area and meet the local wildlife.

Yesterday we showed passengers off the Silver Muse around Twofold Bay. We then did a late afternoon cruise. This morning another two private cruises. We found dolphins and seals on most of these tours and enjoyed watching their antics.
Bubbles and crew are now on their way up to Sydney to see the start of the Boxing Day Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race - this is a cruise that we have done for many years and it is a fantastic day on Sydney Harbour. Bubbles will stay in Sydney for the week as also has a private cruise on the Harbour for the New Years Eve Fireworks. She will then head back to Eden. Whilst Bubbles is in Sydney tours will be on Cat Balou which will be back in Eden on the 27th December.

Can you believe that there is less than a week until Christmas!
We are currently over in Dubbo this week for a cricket carnival with our sons and were talking with a few parents about how challenging some people are to buy Christmas presents for! One of the parents shared that she was not buying any physical gifts for her family this year and had purchased gift vouchers for experiences in her local area. What a great idea! Many of you have been asking where Cat Balou is? She is currently undergoing maintenance. In the meantime our vessel Bubbles has been welcoming Cruise ship passengers and visitors and showing them the wildlife and sights off Eden. Bubbles is larger, more comfortable and modern than Cat Balou. She is too large to come into the Cat Balou pontoon so is berthed near the Cruise Ship Wharf. (Walk past the Eden Visitor Information Centre and Eden Ice and you will see Bubbles).
Yesterday we took two groups of passengers from Cruise ship Silver Whisper around Twofold Bay finding dolphins on both tours. 🐬🐬

Bubbles is back out again this morning at 10:30am for our 2hr Eden Wildlife Cruise.

Today was a beautiful day to show guests from Seabourn Odyssey around Twofold Bay. We found a seal, a dolphin, two white bellied sea eagles and over 40 Albatross. The albatross and other seabirds were making the most of the calm conditions and were mostly settled on the water.

Today we travelled a few miles but eventually found a massive pod of dolphins, feeding Bryde's and a juvenile humpback whale! It was our last whale watching cruise for the 2023 season and it was great to find whales! This has been a wonderful whale season with so many memorable whale encounters. A special thank you to our wonderful crew and team of photographers who have shared their photos with us 🙏We will compile a post of our favourite photos from this season in the next few days.

From Wednesday onwards we will be introducing our new 2hr Eden Wildlife Cruise, this tour will cruise Twofold Bay and beyond and will search for dolphins, seals, seabirds and any other wildlife that may be in the region. Over the next few weeks there is even the chance of a whale sighting or two! Hope to see you onboard.

Although we are right towards the end of the humpback whale migration thankfully we are still finding them! This morning we headed north to Merimbula Bay to watch a beautiful humpback mother and calf. This pair were quietly cruising along and then suddenly changed and breached several times 🚀🚀🚀 So Good ….
Such a beautiful day to be out on the water and the coastline between Eden and Merimbula was breathtaking today 😊
